Job Purpose

  • Evaluation and business development of strategic target markets globally in the renewables sector for the complete product range.
  • Establish an understanding of products required and optimise routes to market.
  • Act as Global Account Manager for major Renewable’s customers, e.g., GE
  • Develop and review with the relevant POS teams and where necessary change and/or form relationships with representatives including possible Licensed Solutions activities.

Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.

Job Context

  • Work with our colleagues in all POS organisations and co-ordinate activity to ensure collaboration and common actions in accordance with the MTP for Renewables.
  • Record and report on the sales and prospects pipeline for the global renewables business proposition
  • Co-ordinate activity, market allocation and access to the customer base through our POS businesses and local offices.
  • Consider local, Government, banks and other funding options to help secure business working with LE Finance functions.

Job Dimensions

  • The role will be based in Europe with regular travelling to customer visits and some visits to Lucy sites responsible for sales activity.
  • The role will contribute to the Global Renewables plan and MTP improvements.
  • The role will report directly to the Business Development Director – Renewables.

Key Accountabilities

  • With the support of LE businesses and administration, create and implement dedicated and focused plans for existing, and emerging/new customers in the Renewables sector in line with the Company’s Medium-Term strategic plan. But also establish business potential for complimentary products and countries not currently in the product range.
  • Work with the responsible sales teams, offices and representatives, to gather data for the current market and future requirements and price levels.
  • Gather / acquire current sales data to create a view of the target markets.
  • Help manage and gain appropriate Client approvals and/or specification compliance for projects and products. Where possible influence specifications in LE’s favour.
  • Assimilate views and information on specific markets and customer requirements and co-ordinate the drive for general product developments.
  • Establish and report of any barriers to gaining market entry or increased market share.
  • Guide customer enquiries into the tendering teams and advise on what to equipment to offer and guide on pricing.
  • With regional staff/offices set outline targets for sales growth in accordance with the MTP.
  • Coordinate and carryout promotional activities in the target markets to facilitate introduction of new products.
  • Drive demonstrations and/or trial orders via representatives with major customers to gain experience and pre-qualification.
  • Review and where necessary form alternative potential routes to market- representatives/distributors/Licensed partners/ OEMs /local suppliers of PSS/Inverter SS.
  • Work with the local offices and POs to focus on product cost reductions by checking optimal compliance to specification and suggesting local / economical sourcing of components.
  • Work with various “funding agencies” to secure preferential and sustainable payment options for projects and contracts.
  • Regular reporting of plans and activities.

Secondary Activities / Tasks

  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Sales Department.
  • Health & Safety – adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of contract law and terms and conditions
  • Extensive and proven techno – commercial and direct sales experience
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and close orders leading to profitable business for Lucy Electric in due course
  • Detailed knowledge of both low voltage and medium voltage switchgear products and automation systems down to component level.
  • Previous experience of Business Development and Marketing in the renewables sector
  • Previous experience of handling customers both directly and via agents or distributors.
  • Good command of the English language
  • Computer literate with excellent command of MS Office
  • Excellent understanding of the key business issues in end user accounts

Desirable

  • Solution ‘Selling’ including understanding of finance options
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering degree / HND
  • Experience of working in the Utility and Renewables space, with detailed knowledge of account and customer managements in the renewables sector.
