Job description

This is a remote position.

Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with 5-8 years of experience in systems engineering to help design, build, and manage our corporate infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be an upper-level individual contributor with a strong background in infrastructure provisioning, management, and automation. A BS in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE, AWS EKS).
  • Expertly use and integrate tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Chef, or Puppet into the current workflow.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, maintaining the associated tooling applications.
  • Manage and support Linux and Windows operating systems and their infrastructures.
  • Work within various computing environments including AWS, GCP, OCI, and Azure.
  • Utilize general-purpose programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go.
  • Participate in technical communities, contribute to Open Source projects, engage in public speaking, blogging, or coordinate technical groups.

Core Competencies:

  • Oversee the deployment and configuration management pipeline for both public cloud (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and private cloud (VMware).
  • Establish trust and strong relationships with senior leaders, application and operation managers, and professional staff across teams regarding infrastructure needs.
  • Operate and execute as part of a distributed team using asynchronous workflows and communications.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of infrastructure and automation for the organization.
  • Create clear technical documentation, develop support processes and procedures, and provide operational training for support ownership hand-off to peers or organizational units.
  • Demonstrate experience in designing complex technology stacks.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Develop tactical and strategic technical plans, exhibit basic project management skills, and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Exhibit strong team-playing skills, taking responsibility, accountability, and ownership.
  • Participate in compensated on-call rotation for critical services.


Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Mastery of one or more configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Broad capability in managing and supporting both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with multiple computing environments (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go.

Experience Level:

  • Upper-level individual contributor in a systems engineering role.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • BS in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Diverse profiles will be prioritized.
