Job purpose

 

This role is responsible for supporting the Technology Division in its workforce and data management. Analysing large datasets to derive insight, summarising complex data to support leadership with strategic decision making, driving improvements to simplify and automate manual analysis in Excel, and establishing new, ongoing, repeatable processes. The role will support implementation of a new Resource Forecasting Process and will be responsible for analysing the resource forecast information, assessing resource capacity, identifying challenges, and providing insight and recommendations to Technology resource managers.  

 

This role is part of the business management function within the department of the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The Office of the CIO are the ‘right hand’ to the CIO, responsible for the operational and strategic management of IT Workforce Management.  We are a small team with a big impact, working collaboratively across IT and the wider organization to drive strategy and functional performance.

 

 

Essential Function / major duties and responsibilities of the job

Strategic

·         Analyse timesheet data to derive mgmt. insight of Technology staff activity and summarising for management.

·         Utilise Technology’s cost model, connecting financial, infrastructure and resource data to establish cost of ownership of Products & Services in support of corporate wide Product Profitability.

·         Develop and implement best practice for Resource Management, considering resource planning, forecasting and timesheets.

Operational

·         Cleansing and enhancing of large complex datasets and developing processes to automate and ensure repeatability.

·         Understanding a breadth of datasets from financial to technical infrastructure to staff.

·         Collaborating with Technology stakeholders to understand technical datasets and validate data insight.

·         Conduct robust resource planning and forecasting across BAU and Change, providing inputs into new forecasting processes.

·         Ensure all enhanced process are documented with robust tested controls that ensure consistent application of resource management activities.

·         Ensuring accuracy of resource data and consistency with stakeholders in Finance and HR.

Leadership

·         Embrace and foster the CLS culture amongst Technology and wider business.

·         Promote the services of Technology to stakeholders through the identification and provision of value-added service, a can do attitude and a continuous improvement culture.

·         Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of stakeholders in Technology and work in collaboration with other departments, such as Finance and HR teams.

·         Demonstrate executive gravitas in all interactions with the business and other important stakeholders.

·         Anticipate and manage risks and decide on best course of action.

 

Experience / essential and desired for successful job performance

·         Experience cleansing, analysing, and automating data, strong Excel skills essential.

·         Experience simplifying complex data into summary level management insight and reports.

·         Experience with PowerBI beneficial but not essential.

·         Experience in Technology or Resource management beneficial but not essential.

·         Experience in IT and/or Financial Services would be beneficial but not essential.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with previous experience applying these skills to resolve issues.

 

Qualifications / certifications

·         Educated to degree level or equivalent in a business-related subject or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience.
