Description

 

Position Summary

The Estimator (CMS Division) will play an important role in our project development process, responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing competitive bids, and supporting project teams throughout the construction and maintenance phases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating within the water and wastewater, construction industry excellent analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities

  • Utilize industry-specific knowledge and expertise to accurately estimate costs for water and wastewater construction and maintenance projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids in response to project invitations, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop detailed cost estimates and proposals that meet client requirements and objectives.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project estimates, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance project feasibility.
  • Source and evaluate vendors and subcontractors, obtain competitive quotes, and negotiate pricing and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation, and provide regular updates and reports to management and project teams as required.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and continuously seek opportunities to enhance estimating processes and methodologies.
  • Travel as needed to job sites

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Highschool Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the water and wastewater construction industry, with a minimum of [X] years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment used in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, WinEst).
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating and documentation.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards applicable to water and wastewater construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
