Job Title:
Product Stewardship Business Partner

Summary:
Join us as a pivotal member of our team, where you'll drive strategic Product Stewardship initiatives for our polyurethane business segments: Rigid, Molded & Specialties, and Slabstock. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring business continuity and growth by navigating regulatory landscapes, supporting product registrations, and collaborating closely with customers to meet their evolving needs.

In this position, you'll lead the implementation of best practices aligned with our Global Product Stewardship objectives, fostering efficiency and compliance across the board. You'll partner closely with Business Teams to facilitate new product development, lead Regulatory Strategy Forums, and execute product registration strategies. Your proactive approach will keep us informed about legislative changes, enabling us to identify risks and capitalize on opportunities in the market.

Additionally, you'll play a key role in training our teams on regulatory matters and will participate in global Product Stewardship initiatives, collaborating with regional experts and our COE team to coordinate activities effectively.

Responsibilities Include:

Business Segment Partnership

  • Actively leads, participates, and supports Regulatory Strategy Forums and Application Reviews and implements Product Stewardship standards to comply with Responsible Care requirements.
  • Performs forward-looking regulatory and compliance activities and training. Participates as a member of applicable New Product Introduction teams, product translations and extended business teams.
  • Regulatory support as needed for the Business Segment, including work not covered by commercial ticketing.
  • Participation in Segment-specific councils and conferences.
  • Conduct Product Stewardship Business Segment updates to discuss, toxicology testing, REACH, and registrations status utilizing the Product Stewardship Dashboards.
  • Provide training and communication to stakeholders outside of the Product Stewardship team.

Product Registrations

  • Recommends strategic approaches to new product development and registrations. Communicates status of end use / application registrations and notifications.
  • Supports new substance notification, product registration and related activities by working closely with other Product Stewardship Regional Operations team. Includes preparing documentation for various application-based registrations and reporting to global regulatory agencies and monitoring progress.
  • Monitor renewal periods and pay annual fees.
  • Customer registration support and visibility.
  • Consultant relationships and vendor management as needed.

Regulatory Expertise & Compliance

  • Monitors and communicates current and potential legislative changes and implications and initiates necessary actions related to changing chemical regulations in various world regions.  Actively involved in implementing solutions to address these changes and participating in and contributing to advocacy efforts where appropriate.
  • Interface with relevant authorities, industry associations, and institutes on regulatory matters.
  • Ensures applicable regional regulatory changes are communicated to the segments, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provides strategic guidance on compliance and future growth plans to businesses based on regulatory landscape.
  • Communicate on events to mitigate potential reputation impacts.

Customer Inquiries

  • Support the Customer Communications / Regional Teams to interact with and respond to external customers, suppliers, and other applicable teams/functions in supporting product regulatory and compliance solutions, needs, and responses.
  • Develops relationships with key customers (internal and external) to assure appropriate communication, responses, and solutions are provided.
  • Suggest new topics for the COE team to develop Customer Response Templates

Product and Substance Data Management / Systems Management

  • Screen new raw materials and participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes, working with HazCom team as needed.
  • Aware of importance of record keeping and manages a streamlined process for maintaining records and updating system of record.

Assure progress with respect to compliance and business growth is measured and communicated.

Professional Development

  • Establish robust development plan and development goals, and track progress quarterly. Includes developing plans for targeted development, attending activities, and debriefing afterward with an action plan.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on focused topics.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or higher in a technical discipline (for example: Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Public Health)
  • 10 years minimum relevant experience (in chemical product safety/risk management, product stewardship, regulatory compliance and/or other applicable discipline).
  • Business acumen, ability to inform business and influence decision making.
  • Basic chemistry skills related to product chemistry.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and proactively establish connections.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to work, lead, and manage across functions in a global organization with matrix reporting structure.
  • Strong working knowledge of product regulatory legislation and regulation in the regions/countries within job scope.
  • Flexibility to focus on chemistry-related topics, customer support and fulfilling legal requirements.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer literate in standard office systems.
  • Available for early morning or late evening global calls as needed.
  • Able to travel up to 20%, including internationally, as needed and work in a chemical plant environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Silicones industry and/or with highly regulated end use markets in which Momentive operates (personal care, agriculture, healthcare, food contact, etc.)
  • Silicone Chemistry or Polyurethane Foam background
  • Experience working directly with internal and external customers, understanding, and showing a high level of commitment and response to their needs.
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt
  • SAP EHS experience.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Product Line Knowledge.
  • Customer service mindset
