Job description

Spreedly is the world's leading Payments Orchestration solution. Our vision is that the world is better with a diversified, inclusive payment ecosystem. Our mission is to accelerate commerce with an open, secure, and flexible payment platform that welcomes all payment participants. Backed by Spectrum Equity, with a $75M investment, Spreedly is experiencing rapid growth.

We now serve 600 customers globally.  Many of these direct customers are platforms and marketplaces that have thousands of their merchants leveraging our payments platform.  Our customers include industry leaders in digital goods, order ahead and delivery, online marketplaces, donation/giving platforms, event ticketing, and financial services.

Our employees help us execute against our vision through building a culture focused on autonomy, transparency, and collaboration in a dynamic, high-growth organization.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced business development manager to join our Partnerships team as Partner Development Manager.  In this role, you will represent Spreedly’s brand globally and help develop and deploy our partner development strategy.  Responsibilities include scoping out potential partnerships and negotiating contracts.

The ideal candidate has experience evaluating market dynamics all while sourcing, scoping, negotiating contracts, and initiating partner relationships. They should be very comfortable interacting with, presenting to, and persuading executives, both internally and externally, to help accomplish Spreedly’s long-term partnerships vision. Reporting to the VP of Business Development and Partnerships, you will be part of a team that is motivated and optimistic, embraces change and sees learning opportunities in business challenges.

This role is open to candidates who currently reside in Greater Montreal, Quebec, and is a hybrid role with the expectation of two days a week to be spent in a coworking space in Montreal.

Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for the top of the partner funnel.  You will source, negotiate with, and sign partners to drive Spreedly’s growth
  • Take responsibility for our initial or introduction relationships with a broad set of partners that will include large strategic opportunities with major organizations (platforms, payment service providers, merchant aggregators and more), as well as scaling our partner program for independent software and service providers, consultants and advisors
  • Be measured against a set of KPIs that will include growth of the partner ecosystem, the number and value of new customers acquired via your partners, and adoption of your partners’ solution by customers
  • Implement a cohesive business development strategy to identify and advance new partnership opportunities to drive growth, sustainability, and impact for Spreedly
  • Understand Spreedly’s business strategy and communicate the value of Spreedly’s brand and product ecosystem
  • Build deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to grow Spreedly’s relationships with strategic partners
  • Work with a broad range of team members across our Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Account Management, and Legal teams

  • Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in strategic business development, with experience signing new partners, in a B2B SaaS environment
  • Experience evaluating opportunities with regard to impact on strategy, brand, finance and operations
  • Proven experience building successful relationships with external parties and working with executives and senior leadership to explore new opportunities
  • Managed projects with multiple stakeholders; set clear milestones and hold others (and self) accountable to goals
  • A successful track record of managing complex deals and cross-functional projects
  • Experience working cross-functionally with a range of teams, managing initiatives at scale, and delivering results
  • A high degree of self-motivation and ambition
  • The ability to flourish in a competitive environment
  • Exceptional objection handling and influencing skills
  • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, at approximately up to 25%
  • As this role will primarily collaborate with partners based out of the US and the UK, fluency in the English language, both written and spoken, is required

  • We Offer Our Canada-based Employees:
  • Competitive salary + Equity
  • Group Life Insurance and Disability Coverage
  • Medical, Vision, and Dental coverage
  • Pension contribution
  • Open Paid Time Off policy
  • Monthly home working/digital lifestyle stipend, new MacBook, and one-time accessory reimbursement
  • Free LinkedIn Learning subscription
  • Access to company-paid professional coaching service
  • Visits to HQ in Durham, North Carolina for remote employees
  • Spreedly is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. We actively work to drive out even unintentional discrimination in our hiring processes via practices like blindly graded work samples, structured interviews, and diversity awareness training.

Due to the sensitive nature of what Spreedly does - handling payment data - finalist candidates must complete a successful background and reference check.

At this time Spreedly is unable to provide sponsorship for employment, and we are not set up to support remote employees who reside in California or New York. In order to be considered for employment, applicants must be currently legally authorized to work in the job location country and not require future sponsorship in order to continue working in that country.

We appreciate your interest in our company. Because of the high volume of resume flow, we may only respond to those candidates that we think will be a potential fit.
