DoD SkillBridge Internship: RFP Contract Specialist

Job Summary:

The Government Contract (RFP) Specialist is responsible for preparing, managing, and submitting proposals for government contracts. This role involves understanding the requirements of government solicitations, coordinating with various departments to gather necessary information, and ensuring that proposals are compliant, competitive, and submitted on time.


Key Responsibilities:

● RFP Analysis and Strategy:
  • Analyze government solicitations (RFPs) to understand requirements, scope, and evaluation criteria.
  • Develop and implement proposal strategies to increase the likelihood of winning contracts.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and identify key differentiators.

● Proposal Development:
  • Coordinate and manage the proposal development process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all components.
  • Write, edit, and review proposal content, including technical, management, and pricing sections.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all solicitation requirements, including formatting, content, and submission deadlines.

● Project Coordination:
  • Develop and manage proposal schedules and work plans.
  • Organize and lead proposal kickoff meetings, status reviews, and final review sessions.
  • Track progress and ensure timely delivery of all proposal components.

● Post-Submission Activities:
  • Respond to government inquiries, requests for clarification, and debriefings.
  • Maintain detailed records of all proposals, submissions, and communications.
  • Analyze feedback and outcomes to improve future proposal processes.


Qualifications:

● Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, English, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

● Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in government contracting, proposal writing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex proposals and working with cross-functional teams.

● Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex solicitations and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and/or Google Workspace
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

● Certifications:
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) foundation certification is a plus.

  • PM Fundamentals course, Resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and interview skills course.  
  • Other free resources, including an electronic copy of 'How to Speak Civilian Fluently'.  
  • This internship will include either the PMP/CAPM certification training and exam fee; or the BDP (Business Development Professional) training and exam fee.


Other:  

Not all internships include certification training by Vets2PM, as many host companies include their own internship-focused training instead. If selected for an internship with Vets2PM please read your approval email, letter, and training plan to be sure you understand what is included in your internship.
