Job Description

Clifford Chance is seeking a highly motivated and skilled General Banking Associate to join our prestigious Global Financial Markets practice in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will work on a variety of complex finance transactions, including leveraged and acquisition finance, private credit & direct lending, project finance, real estate finance, and restructuring. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team on high-profile transactions for a global client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of financing documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide advice on a variety of finance-related legal issues.
  • Participate in structuring, negotiating, and executing finance transactions.
  • Work closely with partners, counsels and senior associates, and clients to ensure transactions are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate with other practice areas and offices to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.
  • Manage and mentor junior associates and trainees.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including client presentations and pitch documentation.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments in finance law and contribute to the firm's knowledge management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with 2 – 5 PQE in a common low jurisdiction
  • Strong academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Experience in a leading law firm with a recognised finance practice.
  • Excellent legal skills, including a strong understanding of finance law and practice.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills, particularly Mandarin or Cantonese, are highly advantageous.
  • Commitment to high-quality work and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
