Job Description Summary
The Engineering Services Team operates globally, providing remote support to field services personnel to uphold top-tier performance for GE’s Solar and Storage Solutions assets. This entails optimizing the value of post-COD aspects such as warranties, long-term service agreements (LTSA), and Change-Modification-Upgrades (CMUs) to uphold customer satisfaction.

The Lead Services Plant Controls Engineer is entrusted with overseeing control systems, automation, and instrumentation of our Solar and Storage Solutions assets. They play a pivotal role in ensuring that plant control systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably, aligning with both industry standards and our operational objectives. In addition to developing, implementing, and optimizing control strategies for plant operations, the Lead Services Plant Controls Engineer actively participates in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) to identify underlying issues affecting control systems. They also contribute to Change-Modification-Upgrades (CMUs) aimed at enhancing the performance and functionality of plant control systems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated control system issues.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Lead projects focused on control system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards for plant control systems.
  • Provide recommendations for plant automation and digitalization strategies.
  • Guide the resolution of instrumentation challenges and calibrations.
  • Stay updated with the latest control system technologies and industry trends.
  • Mentor and train team members on best practices in plant control systems.
  • Engage in regular reviews and audits of plant control system performance and security.
  • Lead the validation, and installation of all control systems (including 3rd party SW) upgrades to fielded assets.
  • Support on-site start-up and integration of system controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in plant control systems.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with developing or maintaining software & controls using high-level software languages.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Control Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of plant control systems within the renewable energy domain.
  • Familiarity with modern automation and control system platforms.
  • Proven track record in leading control system projects and initiatives.
  • Experience with cyber-security standards related to control systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder communication.
  • Strong knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA).
  • Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products and field engineering experience.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken).
