About Send

Send is a rapidly growing InsurTech company founded in 2017 by our three Co-Founders, Andy, Matt, and Ben, all with extensive experience within the insurance sector. Their driving force behind founding Send was their collective vision to reshape and enhance the processes of commercial insurers by seamlessly integrating advanced technology and deep expertise.

In 2022, we were recognised by Insurance Times as the Technology Innovation of the Year for Underwriting at the Tech & Innovation Awards. In 2023, we were named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide P&C Intelligent Workbench Applications. In 2024, we’ve followed this up by being shortlisted for the ‘Global P&C Technology Partner of the Year’ award at the Axco Global Insurance Awards and being named a Top Insurance Employer in the UK by Insurance Business. Excited by the opportunity to transform the insurance landscape? Then check out the role below!

Our Funding

From 2017 to 2022, we bootstrapped our growth journey, transforming into a profitable and stable company. In November 2022, after a year of remarkable expansion in our revenue and team, we successfully obtained £9M in Series A funding to accelerate our expansion in the UK and US and our product development.

The Send Team

Over the past 18 months, Send has experienced remarkable team growth, expanding by over 50% to a team of 80+. At the beginning of 2023, our team was based in the UK and Poland. We’ve taken significant strides towards establishing a global presence and now have team members across the US, India, and Ireland, all working collaboratively to be the market-leading underwriting software platform for agile insurers.

The Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join Send’s Client Delivery function, bringing first-class Business Analysis and Business Architect skills to a team that works directly with a range of customers, SI delivery partners, and internal development teams.

Drawing on a deep domain knowledge of the Insurance Specialty business and Send products, you will support our delivery partners by providing product subject matter expertise to address client challenges using Send’s product capabilities. This position allows you to challenge the norm and ensure that delivery teams leverage the Send product fit to support the strategic goals of our customers. You will also assist in shaping the Business Architecture, Analysis, and SME capability that Send must provide to support its clients and SI delivery partners.

Additionally, there will be some hands-on responsibilities within the day-to-day delivery teams, capturing requirements and user stories for implementation.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Lead Functional Consultant

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of Send products to provide expert advice to clients and SI delivery partners, maximising the functionality and configuration suited to their needs.
  • Shape the 'Partner Program' and develop assurance capabilities for clients using SIs for implementation, including monitoring project progress, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements, and acting as a liaison between client stakeholders and Send product teams for SME support.
  • Ensure documented best practices are established for Send and SI partner delivery teams to follow, and lead process improvements where necessary, such as providing sufficient detail within user stories with acceptance criteria and documenting product features in a manner understandable to end users.
  • Conduct end-of-sprint or ad hoc demonstrations of product features or delivery progress to elicit feedback on developed functionality, when required.
  • Collaborate with Lead QAs in Client and Product to ensure suitable coverage across all functional testing, and assist with testing as needed.
  • Support the Sales function in shaping and reviewing bid/RFP and new proposal activity from a functionality perspective.
  • Ensure compliance with Send policies and processes, including local and international laws (e.g., data protection).
  • Provide line management for Send Business Analysts and other Functional Consultants within the Client Delivery business.

The Skills and Experience Needed for the Lead Functional Consultant

  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in a Senior Business Analyst or Architect role, having led a team within the insurance industry.
  • Consultancy Skills: Proven track record of working effectively with clients, showcasing excellent consultancy skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to listen to client requirements and ask clarifying questions to understand details fully.
  • Communication: Ability to articulate requirements clearly and concisely for developers and testers using JIRA.
  • Proposal Shaping: Experience in shaping proposals to architect solutions for client problems.
  • Presentation Skills: Capable of providing concise presentations and demonstrations to client forums.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent planning, organising, and time management skills.
  • Professionalism: Professional and results-oriented approach.
  • Team Collaboration: Enjoys working independently as well as within a team.
  • Attitude: “Can do” and flexible attitude, willing to “muck in” to get things done.
