Job Description: MUST-HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):

EKS Architecture: Proven experience in architecting EKS environments.
Deployment Experience as Platform Engineer: Demonstrated expertise in deploying platforms on EKS.
CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and proficiency in using test-driven frameworks.
Security: Strong background in hardening EKS Security for both Cluster and Applications.
EKS Platform Automation: Expertise in EKS Platform automation for effective Cluster lifecycle management (CRUD).
Helm / Kustomize: Proficient in using Helm and Kustomize for Application lifecycle management and K8s add-ons.
Kubernetes Fundamentals: Working knowledge of underlying K8s components such as CNI, kubelet, kube-proxy, and CoreDNS.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with IaC using the GitOps model (Flux, Flagger).
AWS Identity Management: Familiarity with IAM Permission Boundaries and IRSA.
PKI and Certificate Management: Experience with PKI and Certificate Management using cert-manager in the K8s ecosystem.
Policy Management: Knowledge of OPA/Gatekeeper/Kyverno Policy Management.
Troubleshooting: Experience with troubleshooting using AWS services like CloudTrail and CloudWatch.

DESIRED SKILLS:

EKS Architecture Design: Experience in designing and implementing EKS architecture through automation for both Single and Multi-tenant clusters.
Development/Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in Python, Terraform, Ansible, and Golang.
Agile Teams: Experience working in Agile Teams.
AWS EC2 Instance Deployments: Experience orchestrating AWS EC2 Instance deployments in an enterprise setting.
Reference Architecture Documentation: Experience in creating and managing reference architecture documentation.
Service Mesh Technology: Experience managing the lifecycle of Istio Service Mesh (Community Edition) or equivalent service mesh technology.
Multi-Mesh Technology: Knowledge of multi-mesh technology is a plus.

JOB DUTIES:

Design and build EKS clusters for Verizon IT applications, facilitating migrations and new deployments.
Apply existing cloud design, policies, and practices to the EKS technology stack.
Enhance and contribute to existing and new EKS architectures.
Develop tooling and self-service capabilities.
Integrate automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, and OneArtifactory) using the GitOps Model.
Collaborate with developers and partner infrastructure teams to enhance the developer experience.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related technical degree.
CKA or relevant Kubernetes Certification (Nice to Have).
