Position: Cancer Registrar

Our Professional Services team provides top-notch oncology data services to our clients, helping them manage abstracting backlogs, supplement their staff temporarily, or offer long-term outsourcing solutions. This non-certified position focuses mainly on follow-up and casefinding, with opportunities to expand into abstracting roles upon certification.

About The Role

As a Cancer Registrar, you will play a crucial role in casefinding, follow-up, and coordinating cancer conference activities. Working under the general supervision of the Manager of Professional Services or their designee, you will ensure the confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness of all cancer-related health information. This 100% remote position offers valuable experience in preparation for certification as an Oncology Data Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

Identify reportable and non-reportable cases according to various standards.

Complete All Case Finding Functions As Required By Contracts.

Justify coding using text according to client specifications.

Correct errors identified during quality reviews.

Enter complete follow-up information, including disease status, vital status, recurrence, and subsequent treatment.

Run reports independently to populate daily work lists.

Coordinate activities for multidisciplinary cancer conferences and report data to meet Commission on Cancer standards.

Meet productivity and quality standards for each contract.

Maintain compliance with client's abstracting policies and procedures.

Abide by all HIPAA regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned based on experience, knowledge, and availability.

Required Skills And Abilities

Effective communication skills with supervisors, peers, and clients.

Ability to multitask and adjust assignments as priorities change.

Meet deadlines and work within time constraints.

Use sound judgment based on the latest guidelines from standard setters (CoC, SEER, NAACCR) and client policies.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

Education And Experience

Associate's Degree or equivalent required.

1-2 years of cancer registry experience or applicable work in a cancer-related field recommended.

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and cancer disease processes preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
