The Sales Manager will lead a team of loan originators (Business Development Officers) within Asset Based Lending (ABL), responsible primarily for business development and structuring Asset Based Loans. The primary performance responsibilities of this sales team leader will include managing a team of business development officers to achieve loan and fee goals. This role will also develop and manage the teams ability to effectively analyze financial data to assess credit risk and determine the merits of new loan requests (including adherence to loan policy), recommend structure, as well as identify cross selling/referring opportunities of other deposit services. The Sales Manager will provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance assessment to the staff, while aiding senior leadership with establishing and executing the strategic direction for the business line.

Job Accountabilities:

-Effectively leverage assigned staff for maximum personal impact on new business development.  Act as deal team leader on all substantial new business opportunities and all new cross-selling opportunities.-

-Ensure the risk management of each prospect is in compliance with established Associated Bank credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines.

-Coordinate due diligence with internal and external partners from the initial screening process to loan closing, which includes assisting in legal documentation.

-Work with Business Development Officers (BDOs) to determine pricing strategy, acceptable return, and credit structure. 

-Source, hire, and train colleagues, providing ongoing coaching, feedback and performance management.

-Manage the ABL team’s pipeline results effectively through SalesForce.  Develop data and analytics to drive prospecting activity and track fee and loan growth.  Report monthly forecasting to the Head of ABL.

-Manage BDOs (originators) in the execution of loan growth and fee goals ensuring that new business goals and objectives are achieved.

-Manage colleagues by establishing annual performance goals; allocating resources; assessing annual performance; and recommending individual merit and/or promotional increases.  Conducts regular meetings with colleagues to discuss problems and train staff on any procedural changes.

-Provide financial advice and counsel to prospective clients regarding trends and conditions of the business environment and general banking trends. 

-Work collaboratively with internal partners to cross sell all bank product and services, especially non-borrowing services, Commercial Deposits & Treasury Management (CDTM), Capital Markets Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail Bank-at-work, etc., to prospective customers.

-Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the region’s marketplace.  Serve on community boards as applicable.

-Identify needs and refer prospects to business partners within and across lines of business who can best meet those needs.

-Visit other offices within assigned region for customer meetings, deal/market reviews, etc.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of study Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.

Work Experience:

10+ years experience required Asset Based, Commercial, Corporate Banking lending experience. Proven track record of achieving sales and/or new business development goals.

5-7 years experience required Sales leadership and management of a team of sales / business development professionals.
