Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented IT/OT (Operational Technology) Specialist. As IT/OT Specialist, you will be expected to serve as our organization's primary administrator of OT Infrastructure. The IT/OT Specialist manages and secures operational technology (OT) systems critical to the production processes in a distribution transformer manufacturing company. This role bridges the gap between traditional IT and production-focused OT, ensuring seamless integration, reliability, and security of industrial control systems and helping this organization transform to Industry 4.0. Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, and maintain OT network infrastructure to ensure operational and system availability
  • Recommend, test, and implement OT system and security upgrades
  • Consistently monitor and troubleshoot OT network stability and performance
  • Collaborates with the Senior IT Network Administrator to ensure organizational uniformity within both IT and OT infrastructure components
  • Support OT systems and networks, including SCADA, the crucial network where PLCs, and other industrial control systems reside, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures specific to OT environments, protecting against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Coordinate with IT and engineering departments to integrate OT systems with IT infrastructure, facilitating data exchange and analytics.
  • Monitor OT system performance, conducting regular maintenance and updates to prevent downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Respond to and resolve OT system issues, providing technical support to minimize impact on production.
  • Lead OT system upgrade and expansion projects, from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with manufacturing requirements and IT standards.
  • Stay informed about OT technologies and security practices advancements, recommending initiatives to enhance system capabilities and protection.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal customers in an interactive team environment, mentoring team members in OT technologies/methodologies
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates with strong core networking and security skillsets could be considered with the expectation of developing skills/certifications focused on Manufacturing, ICS, and OT Networking/Security. Experience in implementing and managing IT security measures.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing IT network systems, preferably within a manufacturing environment, focusing on industrial control systems
  • Strong understanding of OT technologies, including SCADA, PLCs, and industrial networking.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices as they relate to OT environments.
  • Familiarity with IT/OT integration challenges and solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on system reliability and security.
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across IT and engineering teams.
