The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide Campus is now accepting applications for the position of International Student Counselor, located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This individual is the first point of contact for all international applicants for all F-1 approved Worldwide Site Locations and all applicants for the Europe Campus. The position plays a vital role in the overall success and continuing growth of Worldwide.  Independent judgment and decision-making skills are critical for rendering admission decisions.

The International Student Counselor must possess in-depth knowledge of international admissions requirements and Europe Campus admissions documentation.  Must quickly and adeptly transition between working with undergraduate and graduate, degree and non-degree, new and transfer, transient, and certificate seeking applicants. The International Student Counselor must possess technical expertise in Campus Solutions, the university’s Student Information System, Imaging, and Workflow systems.

Responsibilities include analyzing applications for accuracy, determining documentation required for admission and evaluation purposes, the ability to read and interpret a wide variety of transcripts and foreign documentation.  The International Student Counselor must remain current and aware of all University and Worldwide Admissions policies and procedures, Worldwide degree programs, minors, and specializations. 

The International Student Counselor will also serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).  The International Student Counselor must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to applicants, campuses, DSOs, government agencies, and other constituents. They will advise international students on all immigration matters and serve as a liaison between students to the U.S. government agencies, including Immigration and Citizenship Services, Customs and Immigration Enforcement, and Department of State. The International Student Counselor complies with the terms of Federal Regulations, as advised by the PDSO, and duties for that of the Designated School official.

Serving as a DSO, the International Student Counselor is responsible for keeping up to date with Federal regulations, which may require attendance at conferences/workshops for International Educators.

Position requires knowledge of and enthusiasm for the University’s mission and niche in higher education. The International Student Counselor supports excellence in student service at every opportunity, supports academic quality in our teaching and learning environment, and participates as a team member to support our team environment. The International Student Counselor will also be cross-trained on all aspects of domestic admissions, to assist the team of 12 admissions counselors with processing applications and supporting documentation.

Please note that this position is located at our Worldwide Headquarters in Daytona Beach, FL and is not remote or hybrid.

Qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in education, business or other related field.
