Your missions

Abstracting

Read and comprehend detailed and complex medical information, either handwritten or typed, from patient medical records. Information to code meets regulatory agencies' and state requirements and includes malignant and/or benign disease information (i.e. cancer site, histology and stage)

Responsible for coding Analytical (newly diagnosed) and Rapid Quality Reporting (RQRS) cases

Training

Presents training to colleagues on special interest cases at monthly meetings. Stays current on all standards and new/updated data elements

Abstracting Quality and Validation

Quality controls data abstracted and validates the information for submission to the state cancer registry and Commission on Cancer

Associate's degree health related field. Two years experience as a certified cancer registrar. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) by the National Cancer Registry Association (NCRA).
