Scope of the job: 

In this role you will have a proactive approach to implementing technologies and maintaining high standards, with a focus on team communication. You will be pivotal in tackling issues such as website downtimes, PHP performance bottlenecks, and enhancing system monitoring and efficiency. Your role involves not just proactive development and problem-solving but also the continuous adaptation of processes to optimize team performance. This role will report to our DevOps and Automation manager.

Your challenge: 

Support and spread the implementations across the WordPress projects following the standards and best practices in the market. 

A taster of what you will be doing: 

• Develop and execute efficient backup strategies, ensuring quick recovery in case of server failures, adapting to both server and team needs. 
• Implement and manage monitoring tools to pre-emptively identify potential issues. 
• Analyse server logs to understand and address the root causes of problems.  
• Utilize Linux command lines effectively and proficiently for various operational tasks.  
• Efficiently maintain WordPress and PHP systems.  
• Expertly manage code using Git, with a strong grasp of Git flow and semantic versioning to manage and streamline our development and deployment process.  
• Proficient use of GitHub Actions for CI/CD processes, and expertise in Git and Git flow for code management.  
• Continuously strive for high standards in both communication and technical proficiency. 
• Adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies, continuously seeking ways to improve software and processes. 
• Ensure that all decisions are well-discussed and agreed upon with the team, emphasizing collaboration. 

Who are you and what you need to succeed: 

• A mid to senior-level engineer with expertise in PHP, Apache, Nginx, MySQL, GitHub Actions, WordPress, and proficiency in monitoring, log analysis, and Linux. 
• Skilled in rapid response and recovery strategies for server-related issues.  
• Good understanding of Git workflows and semantic versioning, coupled with efficient problem-solving skills. 
• Proficient in Linux, with a focus on optimizing implementations for efficiency. 
• Experience with server configurations. 
• Experience with task runners like (make, bud) and automation tools. 
• Ability to propose innovative approaches with creative solutions. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and collaborative decision-making, with the ability to adapt to current implementations and evolve alongside team and technology changes. 
• You prioritize standards and methodologies that enhance team cohesion and performance. 
• Meticulous attention to detail together with proficient documentation skills, ensuring accurate and comprehensive maintenance of documentation. 
• Passionate about continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest industry trends. 
• Familiarity with Google Could Platform (GCP) is a desired skill, though not a requirement. 
• Experience in Laravel, Symfony, or vBulletin is a plus.
