Job summary

To provide logistics information and advice on legislation and operational issues.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to member enquiries on road transport compliance and operation (phone, letter, e-mail and face-to-face) within established performance criteria.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership of queries, undertaking research to establish robust evidence based responses using specialist publications, official documents or liaison with colleagues or outside agencies.
  • Manage own continuous professional development to sustain up to date knowledge of road transport law, safety and operational matters to expert level, and recognise where development may be required.
  • Be the MAC lead regarding changes in specialist legislation. Liaise with government, stakeholders and Logistics UK colleagues responsible for legislation and guidance as required.
  • Create and contribute content to communications with members to ensure they are aware of the latest developments on specialist compliance topics.
  • Initiate and manage external discussions on compliance advice subjects.
  • Manage enquiry records to maintain up-to-date, succinct and accurate membership records.
  • Support the management and maintenance of MAC files and other information sources.
  • Lead on:
  • Editing and production of Logistics UK publications and articles as required.
  • Producing presentations and other compliance information material as required.
  • The development and delivery of presentations to delegates at internal and external events.
  • Identify improvements to develop the quality of team outputs to ensure Logistics UK remains a leader in the provision of compliance advice.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of road transport legal issues, holding a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage.
  • A commercial vehicle or public service vehicle mechanic/technician with appropriate education, qualifications, experience and a satisfactory knowledge of legislation and other statutory requirements relating to mechanical condition of vehicles.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • An analytical approach to researching information.
  • The ability to research, understand and analyse legislation and information, demonstrating attention to detail regarding written material.
  • The ability to work closely and constructively with other team members is essential.
  • Demonstrate sound keyboard skills and the ability to manage their email and calendar.
  • An excellent telephone manner, able to build relationships and give members confidence in the advice offered.
  • Able to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work under pressure and prioritise their time.
  • The ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • A clear writing style and an ability to demystify legal requirements.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours.
