Position Overview  

The Publishing Team is responsible for creating all new Marketplace web pages and optimising existing pages via the CMS across the numerous Marketplace properties. This is in order to meet customer needs and ultimately deliver the business SEO strategy.

The team has grown quickly and continues to do so, producing 700+ pieces of content per month, with new areas of responsibility arriving regularly.

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced individual to manage the performance of the entire India based Publishing Team of 50+ individuals. This senior manager role is fundamental to the business’ success, ensuring we are able to publish content quickly and to a high standard first time.

A typical day in the life of the Head of India Publishing Team is to ensure the India based Publishing Team is working efficiently, is strongly supported and delivering expectations. Working with all senior stakeholders across the wider Growth Team and beyond including BD and Compliance, to gather their publishing requirements and working with Senior/Content Managers who will report to you, and Publishing Leads to ensure these needs are met by the wider Publishing Team.

Responsibilities

  • The performance and line management of all India based members of the Publishing Team (50+ individuals)
  • Performance monitoring of the Marketplace Publishing team. Being responsible for creating and cascading the team’s objectives with the help of the Publishing Operations Lead. Driving individual development within the team by providing guidance and mentorship for skill development.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement professional development plans.
  • Overall publishing responsibility for all verticals under Forbes Advisor. Ensuring the team is optimally structured and resourced in a way to meet business needs and demands. Working with the Director of Publishing and Data Research and Publishing Operations Lead to ensure that resourcing demands are flagged and addressed. Workflow responsibility for other Marketplace publishers will sit outside of your remit.
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day general operations of the Marketplace  team, eg. sickness, holidays, etc.
  • Office logistics. Organising office days and visits ensuring these are structured optimally to achieve desired objectives. Including regular visits to Chennai office.
  • Effectively communicate ideas, instructions, and feedback to team members, stakeholders, and other departments to foster trust, collaboration, and alignment.
  • Line management, support, training and mentorship of Senior Content Managers and Content Managers who will be assigned to a specific vertical(s). Ensuring their workload is balanced and you are able to delegate sufficiently.
  • Recruitment and mentorship of Forbes Advisor Publishing India team members. You are expected to own this process with the support of the Director of Publishing and Data Research and Publishing Operations Lead.
  • Stakeholder management at a functional lead level. Ensuring communication frameworks are in place to gather requirements, needs and notice of upcoming projects to plan accordingly with the Content Managers and wider Production Team. Ensure two way communication with stakeholders, constructively challenging back when asks are not possible.
  • Publishing monetization strategy across FA verticals with BD and Revenue Ops, cascading executional elements to Production Team. Ensuring that opportunities are exploited in every possible instance and providing proactively created plans and strategies for improving monetization opportunities by leveraging CMS capabilities.
  • Proactively identifying new opportunities for growth across the verticals, using your seniority, knowledge and experience of the verticals to identify and drive forward new areas of opportunity and demonstrate business growth. Going outside of the Publishing team to work with areas such as Design to devise new ideas and solutions.
  • SEO leadership liaison – form close working relationship with SEO Director and relevant SEO Managers to ensure Publishing and SEO are working optimally in terms of resourcing and processes as well as a strong relationship with the India VP of Operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Publishing Team is accurately tracking output and using operational tools such as Airtable appropriately.
  • Role reports into Publishing Operations Lead

 

Skills and Experience

  • We’re a team of 50+ so we need someone who can work in an agile manner and juggle multiple priorities concurrently across many different product types.
  • Senior management experience is crucial as well as strong leadership skills, delegation and clear resource allocation are key elements of this role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys these things and developing team members.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and show strong leadership skills (communication, delegation, decision-making and conflict resolution). Also a commitment to integrity, honesty and ethical behaviour in all aspects of the role, setting a positive example for the team.
  • An eye for monetization and seizing revenue generating opportunities is a must. You must be comfortable identifying these opportunities and taking proactive action as a result.
  • Significant Wordpress experience is crucial and we require four years plus experience of working in Wordpress within Marketplace.
  • Development skills are not a must but an awareness of technologies such as HTML, CSS and Javascript is advantageous.
  • SEO knowledge is important and you must be able to talk comfortably with the SEO team about their needs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a willingness to learn and help impart knowledge to others is essential.  
  • You must also be highly organised, comfortable identifying your own workstreams, ambitious and with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Finally, quality is paramount in the content we produce so a high level of attention to detail is vital.
