Payroll Tax Analyst Job Description
Overview:
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for moderate to complex level Tax accounting/withholding, reporting, analysis or audit activities to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial results for internal and external purposes and help provide work direction to team associates. This role is the technical and functional subject matter Tax expert for their client(s) and continually works with their team to identify opportunities for improvement and implements solutions.
Specific Tax Responsibilities
- Analyze and consistently take corrective steps on defensive queries related to tax
- Ability to calculate retroactive tax, gross to net calculations including tax withholding
- Prepare and balance and release W-2 files
- Tax Data Integrity Assurance for tax filing
- Process Improvement recommendations and implementations
- Process W-2 Corrections and Reissues in accordance with IRS Regs
- Payroll Tax Update Analysis/Testing
- Provide client support for Escalated Tax and Accounting issues
- Maintain employee master tax data including tax data integrity assurance activities
- Coordinate load of tax data by mechanical input feeds
- Process mass tax updates
- Provide problem (SR) resolution support for tax related issues
- Provide support for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Assist team leaders with complex payroll tax issues
- Analyze gross to net calculations for accuracy including tax withholding calculations
- Review Payroll Tax error reports and defensive queries related to Tax
- Calculate workups retroactive tax
- Validation and balancing of tax data
- Monitor payroll interface file and resolve any rejects related to tax fallout
- Reconcile payroll related balance sheet accounts (taxes)
- Maintain employee tax records
- 3rd Party Vendor Coordination for tax filing and W2 related activities
Responsibility Areas:
- Accountable for partnering with the internal and external teams to deliver client service with quality
- Record, classify, summarize or audit financial transactions and data in accordance with generally
- accepted accounting principles and/or domestic tax code/law
- Enforces and support meeting/exceeding RSL’s and KPI’s and other performance quality objectives
- Accountable for adherence to the various internal and external audits requirements
- Manages day-to-day service delivery within the team in a multi-client, multi-shore environment
- Handles service escalations from internal and external clients
- Monitors daily workflow of client team
- Proactively looks for resolution of potential service delivery issues
- Provides reports to clients and account team as required
- Manages special projects required or need to support client ongoing delivery
- Trains team associates and act as Subject Matter Expert
- Leads adherence to standard practices and client contractual commitments
Posting Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 Years Payroll Tax at employee level
- Strong attention to detail and execution
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Strong business acumen, e.g. ability to interpret and apply financial data/information to business decisions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong business partnering skills
- Detail-oriented, organized and capable of prioritizing workload to complete multiple tasks and meet aggressive deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a team
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel and PowerPoint

88,500 USD
