Purpose of position


The Retirement Plan Consultant (RPC) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned caseload of client plans with a focus on smaller, less complicated plans.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Single point of contact and ownership for assigned clients
  • Provide support to Senior Retirement Plan Administrators and assist in training of Associate Retirement Plan Administrators
  • Provide support to financial advisors and referral sources
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply plan document provisions
  • Ensure compliance with DOL and IRS requirements
  • Annual compliance testing for assigned clients (402(g), 415(c), 410(b), ADP/ACP, Plan Limits, Top Heavy, etc.)
  • Preparation and filing of Form 5500 and related schedules
  • Prepare projected and actual employer plan contribution calculations using all types of allocation methods
  • Assist clients with locating missing participants and securing ERISA bonding
  • Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) determination and processing
  • Ensure proper coordination and delivery of annual required notices
  • Represent the company on client calls and in client meetings, as needed
  • Have a working knowledge of custodian websites and processes
  • Review of Associate Retirement Plan Administrator work for assigned clients
  • Support the retirement plan implementation, conversion, de-conversion and termination processes
  • Oversee plan assignments of a minimum of 40 to maximum of 110
Requirements

Competencies Required

  • Understand requirements for QDRO support
  • Understand new comparability concepts and general testing
  • Understand basics of control and affiliated service groups
  • Understand MEPs, non-qualified plans, DB and CB plan concepts
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Must be detailed and possess strong organizational skills
  • Time management focused adhering to deadlines and timelines


Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a financial services operation’s environment
  • Broad knowledge of the retirement plan industry, willingness to obtain ASPPA QKA designation or NIPA equivalent
