Your missions

We are looking for an Engagement Lead to join the Coefficient team full-time.

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most exciting AI companies in the UK, taking a leading role across many of our projects delivering cutting-edge AI solutions into both the UK public and private sectors. Alongside helping to deliver some of the UK government's flagship AI projects, you will also play a critical role in taking Coefficient to a whole new level of growth. We are passionate about Agile, open source, and continuous professional development.

If you:

  • Love networking and building connections with new people,
  • Appreciate a finely balanced spreadsheet and are great at building project and team allocation trackers,
  • Love working with clients,

This could be the role for you.

We aim to be best-in-class at what we do, and we want to work with people who share that same attitude.

About Us

💼 Coefficient is a full-stack data consultancy offering end-to-end solutions in data science, software engineering, machine learning, analytics, and artificial intelligence. We also create bespoke training programmes in these skills, delivered to customers via workshops, online learning, and hybrid curricula.

🔧 We are driven by the challenge of solving real-world problems by combining statistical techniques with a lean start-up mentality and a technical skill set. Our service is end-to-end, whether it's delivering innovative solutions for a UK government agency or providing an in-house data team to a fast-growing tech company.

🤖 We have delivered high-impact work for public sector clients such as the Home Office, the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology, and the Department for Business and Trade. Our private sector consulting work is highly multidisciplinary; in a single week we may be writing trading algorithms, routing delivery drivers, and predicting elections. We also provide training courses for clients such as BNP Paribas, EY, Hawk-Eye, the BBC, ACCA, CIOT, and the Metropolitan Police.

👥 Our team is our greatest asset. We invest heavily in professional development through our "10% Time" programme. We work with highly intelligent and passionate people who take pride in their work and enjoy a high level of independence.

Requirements

Role and responsibilities

  • Manage client relationships and projects, primarily within the UK public sector.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and pursue additional business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Write bids and proposals to secure new contracts.
  • Assist in managing technical team resourcing and forecasting weekly allocations for projects.

Our ideal candidate would:

  • Have experience of both project and client management, ideally using Agile and Scrum
  • Manage team capacity, and forecast upcoming workload.
  • Produce high-quality project reports.
  • Have experience of successful technology delivery, with expertise in government and public services within the UK. You may be from a government, technology, or data background.
  • Have an aptitude for and experience of working with technical teams and delivering technical projects with some (but not necessarily in-depth) technical understanding
  • Be able to talk persuasively about how Al and data can be used to problem-solve and guide clients on how these can be applied to their needs.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for stakeholder communication, and have the ability to distil complicated concepts to their essence.

Please note that we don’t expect all of the above. We know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. Our goal is to promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture at Coefficient. If this role sounds exciting to you, please consider applying below. If you’re unsure, please still get in touch — we would love to hear from you.

Whilst this role is remote-friendly, we like to get the whole team together on a regular basis. The successful candidate should be able to travel to London to work on-site for approximately 2-4 days per month. This means you must be UK-based with eligibility to work in the UK.

Please note that we are unable to consider your application if you are currently in education, or do not have eligibility to work in the UK. We are unable to offer Skilled Worker visas.

The Basics

📍 Location: We are based in Central London, but we are remote-friendly. You may be required to work on-site at clients’ offices.

💰 Salary: £40,000-£45,000 annual salary.

🏖 Holiday: 33 days of annual paid holiday including bank holidays.

💷 Pension: We're set up with Smart Pension to make sure we're contributing to help you save for retirement.

📈 Performance Reviews: Monthly check-ins to ensure you’re progressing in your career and maximising your potential.

🚀 Opportunity: To be part of a unique and exciting company that prizes excellence of work, working closely with the founder and become part of a dedicated and forward-thinking team. We want you to push yourself to learn new skills and be recognised as one of the best in your field.

♻️ Commitment: We are committed to challenging the status quo and are always looking for ways to make a positive impact. We were one of the first 80 signatories of TechZero and have been a Net Zero company as of 2022.

Benefits

💸 Co-working Spaces: Regular co-working days at different locations in London with the team plus full access to the Hubble co-working network at all times to use a space near where you live.

🎓 Learning and Professional Development: Potential to improve skills through paid courses and subscriptions. We encourage all our team to engage with professional communities, we actively sponsor PyData Meetups and Humble Data, and we provide additional support for anyone wishing to speak at meetups/conferences.

🎟️ Conference Budget: £500 per year to attend relevant conferences. This can help cover tickets, accommodation, and travel.

📚 10% Time: 4 hours per week dedicated to improving skills or pursuing your own project.

💻 Laptop & Peripherals: Company-owned Apple laptop plus peripherals such as a monitor and keyboard, for making remote working both comfortable and safe.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga & Wellbeing: Virtual wellbeing sessions once a week, from yoga and meditation to tea breaks and quizzes.

💃 Team Culture: We have a fantastic small team who value and enjoy our social time together. We do both virtual and in-person events, ranging from board games and cocktails, to guided walking tours, music gigs, and Bake Off experiences.

What to expect from the hiring process:
  • Round 1: We look through your application (CV, Cover letter, screening questions, and any relevant work samples/portfolios) to see if you meet the initial requirements for this role. Please note that if you do not have a cover letter we are unable to proceed with your application beyond this stage.
  • Round 2: You’ll have a one-way video interview to get a sense of your personality and your interests outside of work.
  • Round 3: We’ll book you in for a 1-hour slot to complete an assessment, which mirrors tasks you can expect to do at Coefficient.
  • Round 4: You’ll have a 1-hour Interview with members of our brilliant Delivery and Sales teams. You can expect to present the task you did in Round 3, and a deeper dive into the required skills for the role.
  • Round 5: You’ll have a chat with our CEO, John Sandall, to understand your motivations and career goals. We want to know that you'll be a great fit for our team, but we also want to help you achieve your goals too.

We are hoping to move quickly with this role. You can expect swift feedback after each round. We are unfortunately unable to offer feedback before Round 2. Feedback for subsequent rounds will always be provided if requested.

Please make sure Workable is not included in your spam filter. We’ve had issues in the past of being unable to reach candidates due to our emails being miscategorised as spam.

Due to a large volume of applications we are unable to consider applicants without a cover letter or submitted screening questions.
