Role Overview:

As the Director of Research and Development, you will be responsible for spearheading SOULCHI's innovation efforts, overseeing the entire R&D process from ideation to product development. You will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to align R&D initiatives with business goals, ensuring that our technology remains competitive and disruptive in the market.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute the R&D strategy aligned with SOULCHI's overall goals and vision.
• Identify emerging technologies and market trends to inform R&D priorities.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define product roadmaps based on research insights.

Team Management:

• Build and lead a high-performing R&D team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning within the team.
• Establish clear goals and KPIs to measure the team's performance and progress.

Research Excellence:

• Drive cutting-edge research projects, from concept to implementation, ensuring feasibility and relevance to SOULCHI's objectives.
• Oversee the development of new products and solutions, integrating research findings with practical applications.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages cross-functional partnerships and knowledge sharing.

Resource Management:

• Manage the R&D budget, allocating resources effectively to support ongoing projects and future initiatives.
• Identify and leverage external partnerships, collaborations, and funding opportunities to enhance R&D capabilities.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Act as a liaison between the R&D team and other departments, ensuring seamless integration of research efforts with product development, marketing, and business strategies.
• Present research findings, project updates, and strategic recommendations to the executive team and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• (Preferred but not required) A Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within an R&D team, preferably in a technology-driven environment.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
• A track record of successful project management and product innovation.
• Deep knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscapes.

Equity-Based Compensation Opportunity:

As part of the SOULCHI team, you'll take part in our equity-based compensation model, aligning your success with the success of our business. After much research we have found the fairest equity model for a startup. We use the Slicing Pie model. First phase is equity-based only, which we are currently in. Equity calculations move dynamically based on your fair market rate and actual number of hours worked. In the second phase, which happens at the break-even point, the equity freezes at each member's current earned percentage and compensation switches to salary + benefits. Your equity percentage gets paid out annually as part of the profit sharing. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to own a piece of the future.
