About This Role:

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, Sales Training and Development to lead product sales training and development initiatives for our Neurology portfolio. The Associate Director, Sales Training and Development will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal, to design and execute comprehensive training programs. As a key member of our organization, the Associate Director, Sales Training and Development will play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of our sales force.  

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the development of training content and resources for in-line and future launch products by, collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory) to align training content with product strategies and compliance requirements 
  • Facilitate training programs for Axsome Specialty Account Managers, focused on enhancing product knowledge, selling skills, and customer engagement 
  • Ensure that sales teams are well-prepared to effectively communicate product features, benefits, and clinical data to healthcare professionals 
  • Coordinate activities with regional field based trainers 
  • Manage Axsome’s LMS platform to efficiently deliver training content and ensure seamless integration of training materials and assessments within the LMS 
  • Lead training efforts during product launches, ensuring that sales teams are equipped to effectively introduce new products to the market 
  • Train sales representatives on the effective use of digital platforms, CRM systems, and presentation materials
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and guidelines related to pharmaceutical sales and marketing, ensuring that all training content adheres to compliance standards and ethical practices
  • Collaborate with other training managers or external vendors to leverage industry best practices 

Requirements / Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 10+ years of overall pharmaceutical industry experience 3+ years of training / sales leadership experience  
  • Up to 20% travel (Key Axsome meetings and POAs) 
  • Ability to work on-site Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles 

Salary and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this role is $160,000 - $185,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location. Axsome offers a competitive employment package that includes an annual bonus, significant equity and a generous benefits package.
