About this role:

Avidbots is currently looking for a seasoned Director of FP&A, who will build and transform the FP&A function into a data driven business analysis team supporting operational and strategic decision making as we grow and scale globally. This is a high impact and highly strategic role focused on fostering highly collaborative and effective business partnerships across the organization.


As an experienced finance partner from the hardware and software industry, you will be responsible for setting the standards for financial business planning, forecasting, financial reporting, budget reporting, financial modeling, and strategic decision support. Partnering with all key business leaders, you will be called upon to drive the financial strategy and concurrently be creating rigorous processes and systems that build a firm foundation for our growth plan. 

 

This role is 100% remote and can be based any within Canada or the US with willingness for occasional travel to our Kitchener HQ


How you will make a difference:

  • Team: Lead and continually develop the FP&A team fostering collaborative and business partnership mindset across the business teams.
  • Company Operating Plan: Own the Company’s Operating Plan. Direct and oversee all aspects of the FP&A function including integrated business planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and long-term planning.
  • Business Partnering: Act as Business Partner and Trusted Advisor to all functions within Avidbots, including Sales and Marketing, Account Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Product, R&D, PMO and Corporate Shared Services teams. Establish and maintain strong relationships with leaders to identify their needs and seek a full range of business solutions.
  • Strategy: Support leadership in the development and the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives. Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance, including working capital effectiveness.
  • Sales and Account Management Support: Partner with Sales, Marketing and Account Management teams to develop and execute growth strategy and provide oversight and management of financial terms for commercial deals, partnerships and global expansion opportunities. 
  • Metrics: Improve and maintain company metrics and KPIs, partner with business stakeholders to develop metrics cascades enabling alignment and cohesion of the Operating Plan execution.
  • Accuracy: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
  • Investor and Board Reporting: Own the preparation of periodic board and investor reporting as well as support capital raising and due diligence activities.

  • Hands-On Leader: We are a scaling start-up and need leaders who are able to lead by example. This may mean getting into the weeds sometimes. The right person for this role will need to balance strategy with execution. 


What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related degree required
  • 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
  • CPA, CFA certifications helpful but not required, private equity background preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with the hardware and software industry (preferably Enterprise) and the related financial aspects
  • First-rate strategic skills must be combined with the ability to drive operational execution at a detailed level
  • Sophisticated depth of communication, analytical, project management and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently, collaborate cross functionally and lead and inspire FP&A team in a hybrid work environment
  • Organized with an ability to implement systems and processes to bring structure to a function while retaining the flexibility required to manage effectively in a business undergoing growth and change
  • Will to display the emotional intelligence needed to influence internal and external parties through a period of profound growth and change leadership
  • Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks
