Job description

About us:

PurposeMed was founded in 2019 with the mission of improving access to complex care for underserved communities. We’ve grown quickly in our first few years, and now our exceptional team serves thousands of patients each month across our multiple verticals.

PurposeMed consists of three complex care business units: Freddie, Frida, and Foria, and partners with Affirming Care Pharmacy. Freddie is focused on improving sexual health through education, prevention, and treatment with a focus on the LGBTQ2S+ community—we’re now the largest HIV prevention service in Canada! Our second vertical, Frida, is focused on improving mental health and happiness through education, diagnosis, and treatment. Frida is changing the lives of patients with easier access to adult ADHD diagnosis, and fast and affordable treatment. Foria was recently launched in 2023 and is a virtual clinic providing trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Canadians with gender-affirming healthcare. Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta, and Mississauga, Ontario. This partnership provides our patients with an end-to-end healthcare experience, from treatment, to prescription delivery, to continuous affirming care.

We’re one of LinkedIn’s Top 15 Startups in Canada, the #2 Company-to-Watch in Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50® program, and a member of the Team True North® roster as one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most promising startups. Our culture is highly mission-driven; our team is passionate about bringing healthcare to those who need it most. Best of all—we have fun doing it.

Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON or Calgary, AB

The city of Mississauga is also homeland to many global Indigenous Peoples.

Who we hope to find:

PurposeMed is looking for a Director, Pharmacy Operations to lead PurposeMed’s pharmacy function at Affirming Care. Affirming Care is our pharmacy operation that supports all of our brands: Freddie, Frida, and Foria.

This role will have full responsibility over developing and scaling our Pharmacy teams in Ontario and Alberta, which provide thousands of our patients with life-changing, affirming care. Our pharmacy operations are at the core of the high quality care we provide. You will work to further grow the PurposeMed pharmacy operation such that we can leverage our team's extraordinary abilities to deliver exceptional care, surpassing the boundaries of conventional medicine and transforming healthcare experiences for our patients.

In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
  • Leading all aspects of PurposeMed’s pharmacy operations goals to meet overall company targets and achieve KPIs agreed upon with leadership, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Scaling and improving pharmacy operations by implementing best practices, training, and technology solutions that support our current and future care verticals
  • Working alongside the Clinical and Client Experience teams, collaborating with peer leaders to shape and execute the overall service operation strategy for PurposeMed to achieve its goals
  • Collaborating with Clinical and Client Experience leads to develop a cross-functional roadmap that ensures PurposeMed continues to grow while always aiming to deliver best-in-class patient experiences in a efficient way so we can price our experiences in an accessible way
  • Supporting the employee experience for the pharmacy operation teams

  • Tenacity and drive—the ability to see challenges as opportunities and creatively overcome obstacles with a bias towards action
  • An innate understanding that business success is a shared endeavor—hard work and collaboration are essential to getting the best outcomes for our patients
  • The ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution—we need to see measurable results quickly
  • Clear communication—this position will require the ability to synthesize a lot of information, highlight the key takeaways, and disseminate actionable insights to all relevant stakeholders
  • A data-driven mindset—decisions are made based on analytical insights and focus on driving results for the right metrics
  • Strong financial acumen that will help in prioritizing the right things for both Affirming Care and PurposeMed as a whole
  • Incredible project management and prioritization skills—this leader will be managing a wide and varied group of stakeholders with different needs and will need to keep them accountable to budgets and deadlines
  • A passion for PurposeMed's mission and solving healthcare challenges for underserved communities
It would also be great if you have:
  • A pharmacy degree
  • An MBA or other business degree (CPA, CFA, etc.)
  • Experience in a healthcare company or startup
  • Experience with Kroll
Compensation:
  • $140,000 - $170,000 CAD/year
  • Earn stock options through our Equity Incentive Plan—connect your efforts to PurposeMed’s growth as we work together to improve the lives of our patients across North America.
