Position Summary

Avantax is seeking a Director, Marketing - Avantax Planning Partners (APP) who will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for both direct-to-consumer marketing as well as through affiliate firms and financial professionals to acquire new wealth management clients and gather more assets from existing clients. The Director, Marketing (APP) will work closely with the leaders of the business and marketing leadership to align marketing strategies and execution plans with the business outcomes to be achieved.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess the marketing needs of the business in order to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Determine areas of opportunity to align marketing initiatives to propel the growth of the business.

  • Develop and execute direct-to-consumer and B2B2C marketing plans.

  • Administer and oversee plans and budget to maximize efficiencies of marketing spend.

  • Drive development and accentuation of unique value propositions and incorporate brand and marketing messages appropriately to drive outsized growth.

  • Act as a primary marketing point of contact for affiliated firms focused on building and increasing adoption of marketing programs designed to increase wealth management business and ensure ready access to marketing resources.

  • Develop, direct, and execute strategic marketing plans and campaigns aligned with firm priorities and growth goals.

  • Represent the viewpoint of the CPA affiliate and end client in the content creation and strategic planning process with internal partners.

  • Define the process to transition and onboard newly acquired firms and affiliates, making it easy to integrate wealth management and financial planning into their practice with the correct tools, support, and strategy.

  • Track and measure the effectiveness of marketing plans and campaigns, adjusting as needed to maximize engagement and adoption.

  • Develop, review, and revise content and messaging to help with targeted sales and education efforts.

  • Participate in public speaking engagements on behalf of the Avantax marketing team.

  • Other duties as defined.

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the marketing industry.

  • Direct experience in wealth management / RIA marketing preferably with both direct-to-consumer and B2B2C marketing programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, or related field.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of AP Style.

  • Familiarity with content management systems, analytics tracking, client relationship management tools, and social media and email marketing platforms.

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodology.

  • Strong proficiency in a variety of computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Sitting for an extended period.

  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.

  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.
