Department Information
The role will be within the Payroll Delivery Team which is part of Platform Configuration Control which supports the EQRS division. We maintain, develop, supply, and support the core pensioner payroll software which is used by our internal and external customers. Where required we also configure the core pensioner payroll software where possible to meet client needs.
The team are essential in providing quality payments solutions software for paying pensioners and annuitants, maintaining, and supporting our existing client base. We are also involved in the payroll aspects of a new client take on from initial demonstrations, requirements analysis, development, testing, training and go live activities.
Role Summary
The Payroll Implementation Consultant will work closely with our Head of Payroll Delivery, Payroll Implementation Analysts, Developers, Testers and Business subject matter experts to provide day to day support of the “PenServer and Compendia” Pensions payroll software. Ensuring pension and annuity payments are made accurately and on time for internal customers, hosted and own site clients.
The role also involves new projects and client implementations, development and support of both core and client specific processes.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
To play an effective, efficient, and proactive role within the Equiniti Payroll Delivery Team. Specific areas of responsibility include:
• Analysis of payroll requirements from an outline of user requirements or from a more detailed feasibility study
• Undertake Technical Design Authority role in projects requiring significant design input.
• Provide consultancy to smaller projects where ad-hoc advice and support are required.
• Provide consultancy regarding client requirements and formulation of solutions making optimum use of Equiniti software.
• Provide consultancy to clients in relation to the application of Equiniti software for new requirements, upgrades, changing legislation or changes to the client’s schemes and participate as required in resultant projects.
• Participate in the planning, development, and delivery of client training, where bespoke training courses are required.
• Provide consultancy to all project teams, as required, on all aspects of system design and implementation.
• Provide support to project teams, attending client meetings and internal meetings as requested.
• Monitor systems design and implementation to ensure consistency of approach and re-use of previously developed ideas and software.
• Provide support to in the preparation of ITT response documents.
• Assist with the preparation and delivery of system presentations and demonstrations.
• Influence product development policy with market driven input.
• Collate the views of the various project teams in relation to product development topics.
• Support the definition of business requirements / “user” acceptance, product help and training.
• Maintain current knowledge of legislation and assist in the formulation and roll-out of “product” system solutions in response to any changes.
• Support the Project Manager in producing accurate estimates and planning deliverables.
• Effectively manage the demands of several concurrent projects.
• Adhere to project estimating, planning, management, and reporting procedures.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• IT or payroll qualification, educated to degree standard preferred.
• Excellent team player: highly consultative when working with internal and external clients
• Previous experience of payroll administration and/or payroll management experience or experience of business and systems analysis working on payroll systems
• Client facing experience
• Excellent knowledge of the payroll industry and products e.g., Real Time Information (RTI), Pay as you earn (PAYE), and Payment systems is essential as well as other related Annuities products is desirable but not essential.
• Some understanding of payroll accounting
• Understanding of software development life cycle
• Systems and support analysis skills (experience in a support role is desirable)
• Experience in software tools/programming languages required. SQL Server and Microsoft Office
• Ability to design and execute tests of software and process developments (a qualification in testing would be desirable)
