About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer at Forma, you will take on a role that blends high-level strategic responsibilities with hands-on technical tasks. You will influence your engineering team by making key architectural decisions and setting technical standards that align with our business goals and result in meaningful, tangible business outcomes. As a founding  Staff Software Engineer at Forma, you’ll be expected to foster a cohesive technical strategy across multiple teams and projects. 

You Will
  • Provide technical leadership by improving engineering quality, processes and standards to in order to drive  product quality both for your team and for the engineering org as a whole

  • Collaborate with Product and Design team members to drive alignment on strategic product decisions that define  feature roadmap

  • Mentor Engineering team members to promote a culture of technical excellence and innovation

  • Release new product features and maintain existing services

  • Have a deep understanding about product values and contribute collectively to create the best product experience

  • Build secure, performant, and easy-to-use backend APIs and database designs with clear documentation

Preferred Skills
  • 8+ years of backend software development experience

  • Proven success working with NodeJS / Typescript and building APIs

  • Familiar with NoSql and / or relational databases

  • Familiar with TypeScript / JavaScript or similar languages

  • Familiar with agile methodologies, and have led a project from end-to-end

  • Experience at an early-stage startup is a plus

  • Fintech experience a plus
