What does a “day in the life” of my new team look like?

Our Statement of Work (SoW) Team within the wider PSR Account has been live for around 2 years, we have grown the service we offer from 2 Central Government Clients to around 32 and continue to expand this service as we provide different solutions into the public sector.

As an In-House Counsel, you’ll support this team that delivers procurement projects for our public sector customers, as you act as the first point of contact for legal queries and clause drafting. You’ll work alongside our SoW Leadership Team, Procurement Managers, Supplier Managers, and the wider Legal Team within AMS as you provide legal support purely to the PSR Account.

Responsibilities also include:   

  • Drafting and negotiating customer and supplier contracts either from scratch or as a mark-up on customer and supplier-produced drafts
  • Issuing contract variations, tracking responses, managing AMS’ countersignatures, and ensuring contractual documentation is properly stored and managed
  • Advising the Statement of Works team on the most appropriate legal and commercial documentation
  • Providing legal and commercial support when contract queries are raised
  • Working with the account leadership and business assurance team to manage contract risks
  • Providing support and an escalation route for the team
  • Advising on contractual disputes with suppliers
  • Training of the team on commercial law updates and best practice

What do I need to succeed in this role?

Must haves: - Post-qualification legal experience within a UK law firm and in-house UK commercial environment (5-6 years post-qualification) - Commercial contract drafting and negotiation, in a professional services/outsourcing context - Proficient in the use of all Microsoft packages and reporting using these - Legal experience in commercial law including any of the following areas: Procurement, Data Protection, Employment (including TUPE), and/or Technology/Intellectual Property

Who will I be working with?

AMS has recently been awarded the new Workforce Solutions Framework (WSF), a notable renewal and expansion with the UK government to run the new version of the Public Sector Resourcing (PSR) programme until 2030.There will be a significant expansion of the contract from three service lines to eight, with a series of feature enhancements for the benefit of the workers, suppliers, and users of the service. We are building on the foundations of the existing PSR team and infrastructure to deliver this 6 year contract which spans over 140 customers and we are delighted to announce a number of new opportunities to support this.So, would you like to be part of the team to help deliver one of the largest MSP frameworks in Europe?
