Position Summary

The person in this position is primarily responsible for analyzing contracts and assessing revenue impacts and ensuring timely and accurate recognition of revenue in accordance with ASC 606 standards.  This role involves working in partnership with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, communication, and documentation of accounting conclusions, implementing best practices, and leading audits.  Strong technical accounting skills and the ability to navigate complex financial transactions are crucial for success in this role.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards by developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of accounting treatments, ensuring transparency and audit trail for accounting decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review contracts and assess their impact on revenue recognition.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and support during audits.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in accounting processes and policies.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to cross-functional teams on revenue recognition matters, including contract review, revenue forecasting, and deal structuring as well as provide ongoing training to the team and other relevant departments.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with accounting processes, implementing controls as necessary.
  • Lead and mentor a team of revenue accountants

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of accounting/finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial disclosure requirements and techniques, including US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and its implications on revenue recognition
  • Demonstrable experience of solving problems in areas of accounting complexity
  • Strong understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment
  • Experience presenting ideas to multiple stakeholders, including Senior Management
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment with a very strong drive, dedication and work ethic, meet tight deadlines on multiple priorities, strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Strong people management and conflict management skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Oracle (Accounting and/or Finance Module) experience preferred, not required
  • Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Must have good computer skills and knowledge
  • Must have multi-tasking experience and abilities
  • Must be flexible on work schedule to meet defined goals within peak periods
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, to the lowest and highest levels within the organization
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary role
