Job Description:
The Alternative Delivery Project Manager uses industry knowledge and previous experience to manage and oversee the design of complex transit related development projects. This person will manage external/internal communication and coordination. External communication with clients/contractors and Internal communications with design team working on the project, including those working remotely or serving as technical experts on specific, specialized areas of design and engineering. Supervision of project schedule, budget, and communication with stakeholders are all parts of the successful performance of the job.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development of detailed documents including plans and calculations for the assigned project scope.
- Mentors and oversees the designers, engineers and team members assigned to complete the various aspects of the project.
- Makes determinations for equipment, staff and training needs as required.
- Provides input and suggestions on project and program budgets and schedules.
- Ensure that project team adheres to project quality plan and follow processes in place to ensure technical accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirement and following engineering best practices.
- Ensures the validity of methods used by designers and engineers.
- Coordinates work with other managers and staff
- Must be able to participate in Client meetings as required and be comfortable speaking before groups to validate and verify designs and rejections of designs.
- Lead and coordinate meetings with all stakeholders to ensure the design and construction is proceeding in a timely manner with all considerations to public safety, constructability, cost effectiveness and timely completion.
- Provide feedback and input to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’ s Degree in Construction Engineering or relevant discipline.
- P Eng status or ability to transfer credentials.
- 15+ years of demonstrable previous experience as a Construction Engineering Manager on large, heavy, public infrastructure projects.
- Ability to lead a large, diverse, multi-functional team throughout the lifetime of the project.
- Proficiency in CAD, design software, and construction software programs (Blubeam, Aconex, Primavera P6, etc)
- Computer proficiency (MS Office)
