Under close supervision, responsible for all phases and implementation of small engineering projects under $50 million. Maintains project plan in accordance to established policies and standards. Learning role with 1 to 2 years of experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the planning, justification and implementation of maintenance related capital projects supporting refurbishments, upgrades, and replacements of process equipment, utilities infrastructure, building systems and material handling systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manages multiple projects greater $10,000 – $250,000 from project justification through acceptance by operations.
  • Investigates requests for plant engineering projects and determines feasibility and project scope.
  • Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process.
  • Researches production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs.
  • Coordinates all aspects of projects to which he/she is assigned; particularly vendors, contractors, and consulting engineers.
  • Executes assigned projects with the greatest expediency permissible in order to prevent loss from machinery breakdown or area shut down.
  • Periodically inspects new equipment, machinery, utilities, and housing facilities which he/she has installed to ensure that they are functioning properly, and safety targets are met.
  • Monitors all projects assigned to him/her to control costs within authorization.
  • Manage Limble System (CMMS) as a super user for shop network to ensure standardization throughout shop network
  • Use Limble System to identify OFI’s within the shop network. 
  • Ensure scheduling of 3rd party contractors for PM’s related to Environmental, Insurance, AAR, and OSHA requirements for shop network. 
SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills with a process focused mind set.
  • Basic computer skills including CMMS and AutoCAD for development of layouts and schematics.
  • Efficient and accurate data entry skills related to AFE write-up.
  • Possess an understanding of financial justifications and business systems.
  • Ability to work independently and gather background information at sites in support of project justifications.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Displays a sense of urgency with respect to operational needs.
  • Occasional travel up to 20% of time maybe required in support of time sensitive projects.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of related work experience in heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with managing vendors to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems for data entry, research and reporting.
  • Experience with data mining and generating reports using various Preventative Maintenance (PM) systems and databases.
