Alumni Strategic Partnerships Manager

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will develop a long-term vision, create strategies and goals for alumni association growth through strategic partnerships. This position will help facilitate an environment of collaboration between external partners and the InterVarsity Alumni Team to help alumni grow in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the world.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES  

Personal:  

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world 

  • Maintaining spiritual disciplines for personal and ministry growth 

  • Modeling wisdom and maturity in the balance of family, church, and ministry life 

 

Strategic Partnerships 

  • Identify ideal partnership candidates and provide ongoing engagement with partners to build rapport and relationship, encourage our partners, identifying opportunities to serve with our partners, communicate partner wins and needs to the rest of the Alumni Engagement Team. 

  • Execute strategic and tactical partner agreements and plans with specific measurable objectives 

  • Assist in planning and implementing alumni association initiatives, campaigns, and events and ensures the partners involved are honored throughout the process 

  • Measure and report results from strategic partnerships, tracking contributions and other key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing positive change 

  • Manage each stage of the partnership lifecycle, and monitor the ROI and risk for both InterVarsity and its partners 

  • Collaborate with the Alumni Communications Director in sales of advertisement space in the Alumni Magazine 

  • Create a resource and benefit library for alumni in collaboration with Alumni Engagement Team 

  • Execute any additional responsibilities as determined by the Alumni Director or Associate Director 

 

Internal and External Leadership 

  • Contribute to the work of the Alumni Engagement Team and as an advisor to the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement 

  • Assess strengths/weaknesses and cast vision for alumni engagement opportunities 

  • Bring proposals for partnership candidates and innovative benefits to the Alumni Engagement Team for discussion and decision-making. 

  • Assist with regular strategic planning and annual goal-setting processes 

  • Make recommendations to improve systems and workflows 

  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams within InterVarsity, including but not limited to development, ministry intelligence, marketing, finance, legal, and IT. 

  • Be the key alumni association ambassador for strategic partner relationships 

  • Manage external contacts and expectations 

  • Maintain and nurture relationships with partner organizations to ensure their satisfaction with progress and outcomes 

  • Effectively communicate so that partners understand and prioritize ministry-wide strategic direction 

  • Lead, leverage, and align stakeholders to deliver technical, account-based solutions partners need 

  • Provide suggestions and ideas on process improvement; work cross-functionally to optimize workflows for strategic partnerships 

 

 

Maintain technical and professional growth and development: 

  • Stay current with computer programs InterVarsity uses to support the above functions 

  • Maintain familiarity with IVP’s publishing program and InterVarsity’s ministry goals and programs 

  • Attend workshops and classes as necessary  

 

Ministry Partner Development: 

  • Raise an annual budget of funding for the ministry as agreed upon with your supervisor 

  • Form a team of ministry partners that will regularly pray for you and the ministry work  

  • Communicate regularly with current and potential donors, churches, prayer support team members, friends, and family regarding ministry with InterVarsity

  • Vision to continually add value to processes and alumni experience 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management 

  • Motivation to be culturally aware, knowledge of other ethnicities/cultural groups, strategic planning for cross-cultural interactions, and the ability to adapt one’s behavior to the cultural situation 

  • Experience and expertise in navigation difficult conversation, particularly around issues of funding 

  • Basic understanding of marketing and brand promotion 

  • Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently without close supervision 

  • Ability to develop procedures for doing work 

  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines 

  • Open to learn new concepts, methods, and skills 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or related field is required 

  • Working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) 

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment 

  • Flexibility to attend the Urbana Student Missions Conference every three years, and National Staff Conference every three years 

This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of the salary range noted in the job posting.

Pay Range: $53,328.00 - $71,112.00 per year
