Senior Linux Specialist

We are seeking experienced colleagues with excellent proficiency in Czech and English. A Linux specialist is a key member of our team in the IT industry as they ensure the smooth operation and security of widely used Linux systems, which form the foundation of many servers, databases, and critical business applications. The Linux specialist plays a crucial role in the field of virtualization, providing expert knowledge and technical support for the implementation, management, and optimization of virtualized environments based on Linux, enabling more efficient use of hardware resources and improving the flexibility and scalability of IT infrastructure.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of various Linux distributions, such as CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Fedora, Debian, Alma Linux, Rocky Linux, etc.
• Understanding of networking technologies and protocols.
• Knowledge of best security practices and protocols.
• Problem-solving skills and effective troubleshooting abilities.
• Good communication skills for teamwork and interaction with other departments.
• Organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn and develop in other areas of IT.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate with both technical specialists and clients.
• Interest in IT and the ability to create and maintain a knowledge base.
• Logical thinking and attention to detail.

Nice to have:

• Scripting and programming skills, particularly in languages like Bash, Python, and Perl.
• Experience with cloud technologies, including Oracle, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of database servers such as PSQL, SQL, and MySQL.
• Virtualization: Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, (Xen, LXC).

Responsibilities:

• Installation and configuration: Setting up new Linux systems and servers, including installing the operating system, software, and configuring network settings.
• Maintenance and updates: Regular maintenance of systems, including applying security patches, updates, and bug fixes.
• Backup and recovery: Implementing data backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Security: Protecting the system using firewalls, antivirus programs, and monitoring network traffic to prevent and detect unauthorized access.
• Network administration: Managing network services such as DHCP, DNS, VPN, and others.
• Problem-solving: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Incident response and troubleshooting: Promptly responding to problems, resolving errors, and improving systems.
