Language forms the bedrock of understanding, empathy, and connection. At the Children's Refugee Shelter, in collaboration with Teneo Linguistics Company, we comprehend this intimately. We are searching for a versatile Armenian Interpreter who can bridge the linguistic gap in diverse scenarios ranging from medical, legal, community, to everyday interactions, enhancing the comfort and comprehension of our young refugees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and efficient Armenian interpretation services across a variety of settings, including medical, community, and legal contexts.
  • Facilitate communication between non-Armenian speaking staff and Armenian-speaking children, ensuring mutual understanding.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and abide by all ethical guidelines and standards of interpreting.
  • Assist with the translation of written materials as necessary.
  • Promote awareness among staff about the best practices of working with an interpreter.
  • Be sensitive to cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
  • Assist with scheduling, coordination, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as an Armenian interpreter, with exposure to medical, community, and legal interpreting scenarios.
  • Proficiency in English and Armenian.
  • Certification in Interpreting from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.

Benefits

  • Play a pivotal role in fostering understanding and connection within the shelter, improving the overall experience for our children and staff alike.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment that promotes collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Opportunities for professional growth within a supportive and purposeful organization.
  • Experience the gratification that comes from being a crucial link in a chain of care and compassion.

As a Armenian Interpreter at the Children's Refugee Shelter, your role transcends language translation. You foster understanding, bring comfort, and help to ensure that every child feels seen, heard, and appreciated in their interactions.
