Position Focus**

The mission of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI) is to establish a home for the training of the next generation of clinical and translational scientists and to provide a robust infrastructure that promotes innovative and collaborative research directed at improving patient care. This position, reporting to the YCCI Operations Manager, is responsible for the financial management, proposal development and stewardship of the portfolio of grants and contracts within the YCCI organization. The Portfolio & Grant Analyst will be responsible for the management of post award grant and contracts. Will provide financial stewardship of a portfolio of grants and contracts for sponsored research. Will present financial information and recommendations through data analysis and reporting while developing and maintaining budgets. Develop and prepare budgets and review language for budget justifications in collaboration with the PI. Assists in identifying budgetary needs. Responsible for understanding and effectively communicating the University policies and procedures and interpretation of sponsor terms and policies. Handles post-award management for the $3.3M COVID vaccine community uptake work in YCCI. Will assist other team members in the post-award management for the NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). The CTSA is funded at ~$64M total cost over five years ($12.7M annually). This will include overseeing the financial management for a UL1, and the linked T and K training awards of all scholar and pilot awards funded from federal sources and awarded by YCCI. As part of the CTSA management the Portfolio & Grants Analyst will oversee 1) the internal sub-awards (~$3.5M/yr.) for the five educational programs under the CTSA umbrella, including salary and support stipends for approximately ~30 trainees annually, and 2) an integrated pilot program generally 10- 20 awards are made annually across 5 or 6 categories. Additionally, this post will assist in managing the supplemental grants now available to Yale as a result of the renewal of the CTSA grant. This position will also work collaboratively with team members, other Yale business offices, and YCCI leadership to ensure that direct charge of salary on grants outside YCCI is properly managed and reported. The Portfolio and Grant Analyst will provide strong analytical financial reporting, forecasting, trend investigation, process improvement, administrative, and operations support to the mission of YCCI. **

Essential Duties**

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Present financial information and recommendations thru data analysis and reporting in the development and maintenance of budgets. Identify funding issues and develop appropriate solutions. Review and approve reports for administrative actions including pre-award costs and no-cost extensions. Analyze data and develop complex analytical reports for principal investigators including trend analysis, forecast future financial scenarios, develop long range projections, and variance analyses.2. Proposal Development: Develop proposals and budgets for grant and contract submissions; coordinate with partnering institutions. Ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and University policies and procedures. Advise principal investigators of new funding opportunities and requirements.3. Portfolio Management: Plan, organize and prioritize actions across multiple awards and investigators' portfolios. Ensure appropriate charging of expenses and integration of data. Advise and counsel principal investigators on financial issues and recommend alternative spending strategies, manage renewals, extensions and closeouts of grants, including final financial reporting to the sponsor. Analyze and negotiate budgets, contracts, and terms and conditions of research proposals.4. Compliance and Risk Management: Responsible for providing appropriate guidance on compliance matters during management of portfolio and collaborates with account holders to maintain such compliance. Review, interpret and effectively apply sponsor policies on a variety of topics including cost allowability, budget management and other award management activities to ensure compliance with sponsoring agency requirements and University policies and procedures. 5. Collaborative Finance Partner & Lead: Provides a high-level of service that maintains strong working relationships by interacting with faculty and internal and external contacts, such as the School of Medicine, Office of Research Administration and granting agencies by managing the internal pre award proposal process and the management of sponsored funding.6. May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of University and Grant/Financial systems including Workday, IRES, PowerBI. Knowledge of federal regulations and reporting requirements including OMB Circulars A-81, A-21, A110, A-133, and the NIH Grants Policy Statement. **
