We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Data Cataloging (EDC) Developer to join our talented team and contribute to the success of our projects.
Job Description: The EDC Developer will be instrumental in building and maintaining an Enterprise Data Catalog, crucial for managing the abundance of structured and unstructured data within the organization. You will leverage your expertise in Data Catalog tools, such as Alation EDC, and Data Governance use cases to develop a robust Metadata Management platform. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including Data Scientists, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Data and Production Support Engineers, to ensure the effective use of the Data Catalog platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage experience working with Alation or other data catalog tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure metadata is clearly documented and maintained.
- Design metadata architectures aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop processes for sustaining metadata standards and ensuring metadata quality.
- Conduct research and apply best practices for data lifecycle improvement.
- Build end-user documentation for system usability and adoption.
- Integrate with Enterprise applications and Data Management tools.
- Mentor Data Analysts and conduct workshops for Data Catalog adoption.
- Develop APIs for integration between the data catalog tool and various data sources
- Design, develop, and deliver Metadata, Domain Discovery, and Profiling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- 5 years of Data Governance experience.
- Experience with Alation EDC and its advanced scanners.
- Experience in connecting a data catalog to various data sources.
- Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, and Data Privacy standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with DMBoK principles.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Experience in federal government Cloud or IT systems.
- Familiarity with CIS NIST standards.
- Adept at managing government-specific IT environments.
- Well-versed in healthcare IT systems, with a focus on HIPAA regulations.
