Position Summary:Action for Healthy Kids is committed to promoting the health and wellness of children and adolescents, and delivering high-quality professional learning opportunities for school champions, district leaders, and other key stakeholders working with youth across the nation to do so effectively. We are seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Manager of Professional Learning to lead our Professional Learning team in developing and implementing high quality professional development offerings and approaches. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in standardizing professional learning opportunities across various programmatic facets and components of child health and wellness.
Essential Functions:Leadership and Supervision - Lead a team of professional learning facilitators in the development and execution of strategies to increase the skill-building capacity of school health and wellness champions through professional development design and implementation. - Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on developing a cohesive, integrated approach to professional learning and capacity building. - Engage in cross-departmental collaboration on fundraising, evaluation, and special projects and initiatives across the organization. - Lead and contribute to the design and implementation of Action for Healthy Kids' tiered Network initiatives.
Professional Learning Development & Coordination - Serve as lead for Action for Healthy Kid's professional learning efforts to build the skills, knowledge, and capacity of district leaders, school champions, and other key stakeholders to advance student well-being and academic success. - Lead the development of professional trainings, workshops, CoPs, and other learning offerings across Action for Healthy Kids integrated program model. - Apply best practices and principles in adult learning theories and styles to develop impactful, engaging, and effective professional learning offerings across various delivery modalities and mechanisms (in person, virtual, asynchronous, etc.), and audiences. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and deliver effective trainings, webinars, workshops, communities of practice, ToTs, PD events etc. focused on school health and wellness, across programmatic pillars and WSCC model components, e.g. nutrition, physical activity, youth mental health/SEL, health education, risk prevention, etc. - Liaise with the program design team of subject matter experts in determining programmatic content for professional learning offerings and services, across program pillar and key initiatives. - Liaise with school health operations team to design and deliver effective professional learning offerings focused on building district infrastructure for effective school health and wellness policies, programs and environments. - Coordinate across professional learning contracts and projects implemented via a fee for service model or traditional grant opportunities. - Develop, design, and deliver professional learning offerings designed to help educators and other school stakeholders understand, adopt and implement the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. - Contribute to the development of a comprehensive menu of programs and services offered by Action for Healthy Kids, inclusive of RMC Health professional services. - Provide oversight of LMS platform, training development, and related professional learning tools and software, in collaboration with other internal colleagues. - Stay abreast of field trends, stakeholder needs, and current research to inform professional learning approaches and adaptations over time.
Technical Assistance and Communication - Work closely with professional learning facilitators and other program staff to develop our internal expertise and sharpen professional facilitation skills, broadly and to support success of specific initiatives and projects. - Work closely with professional learning facilitators and other program staff to provide technical assistance to clients, partners, and districts seeking to enhance their child and adolescent health and wellness policies, programs and initiatives. - Effectively manage external relationships and contractual obligations with clients, districts, contractors, and other partners. - Collaborate with staff across departments to develop and disseminate various training, reporting, and communication materials. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical assistance, resources, and support across program / WSCC component areas, based on identified district and stakeholder needs or specific opportunities. - Support conference presentation development and delivery.
Budget Oversight and Monitoring - Assist in the creation and oversight of the annual budget for Action for Healthy Kid's Professional Learning team, including related grant funds and fee for service contracts. - Collaborate with colleagues in the Growth department on fundraising and proposal development, donor reporting, and fee for service development opportunities. - Develop and monitor the progress of goals and impact of professional learning services and offerings, with specific intended outcomes for participant knowledge, skills, or attitudes, in close collaboration with the Evaluation team.

Supervisory Responsibilities: - Lead, support, direct, and develop team of professional learning facilitators, and related roles, within the Professional Learning team to enhance performance and job alignment. - Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. - Direct the maintenance of various reports, records, and files related to assigned activities and direct reports.
Education and Experience Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Education, Adult Learning, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and delivering professional development programs. - Preferred: Master's degree in Education, Adult Learning, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years' experience in designing and delivering professional development programs. - Strong project management, facilitation, organizational, and customer service skills are required. - In-depth knowledge of adult learning theories, principles, and best practices. - Comprehensive knowledge of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model is required. - Experience with web-based platforms and tools for professional learning and facilitation. - Experience working in an educational setting (e.g., school, school district, state education agency), public health, or nonprofit/community-based organization. - 5 years of professional development experience: demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing effective professional development programs. - 5 years of experience in supervising/managing employees; both directly and indirectly. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Zoom, and relevant training development tools.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current hiring range is $69,300 to $90,000.
