Position Focus**
The Operating Systems Programmer will participate in the implementation, automation, and support of physical and virtual infrastructure and systems for Yale University Library. The Operating Systems Programmer will have responsibility for critical services and storage in a 24/7/365 on‐call production environment. This position works closely and collaboratively with a wide range of staff in Library IT, stakeholders across the Library, Yale ITS, as well as with external partners and vendors. The Operating Systems Programmer is a member of the Yale University Library IT department, reporting to the Infrastructure Technical Lead in the DevOps and infrastructure unit. Participate in the build, configuration, and documentation of IT infrastructure. Maintain and support IT infrastructure, ensuring adherence to standards and service level objectives and minimum security standards. Perform defined processes and practices to support the network and ensure consistent and reliable operation to meet business needs. Provide user support and troubleshooting through established protocol; escalate as necessary. Contribute to documentation of incidents, internal processes, and procedures.

Essential Duties**
Required Education And Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. **
Required Skill/Ability 1**
Demonstrated ability with UNIX/Linux operating systems and utilities, tools and applications used to deploy, configure, document, secure, and maintain systems and applications. **
Required Skill/Ability 2**
Demonstrated ability with at least two of the following: automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, web servers, Java application servers. **
Required Skill/Ability 3**
Excellent communication skills in order to collaborate as a knowledge leader in the specification, design and deployment support of UNIX infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to develop and document complex procedures **
Required Skill/Ability 4**
Demonstrated ability with scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, Bash. **
Required Skill/Ability 5**
Excellent organizational and communication skills. **
Preferred Education, Experience And Skills**
Experience with ITIL or similar IT process management frameworks. Experience and understanding of development tools – (e.g. git, Jenkins, etc…) Experience working with enterprise monitoring solutions (e.g. AWS Cloudwatch, Dynatrace, NewRelic, etc..) Experience with Ansible(Tower, AAP, etc…) **
