Mechanical Engineer - LNG - Gas Pipeline - Energy TransitionLocation : Remote UK WideSalary : Circa £65,000 per annum

Main Purpose of Role:**Assist with the planning and co-ordination of the overall technical design and engineering implementation of project work. Independently carry out advanced engineering studies. Responsible for assignments of a complex nature requiring broad knowledge and skills. Mentor less experienced Mechanical Engineer and review Mechanical Engineer’s work. Create, check and approve project deliverables in line with the project schedule.

Responsibilities:Technical - Undertake mechanical design and engineering including, but not limited to the preparation of specifications, data sheets, calculations and technical requisitions as necessary to fully define the design requirements and equipment and services required, provide technical direction and supervision of Engineering Design / CAD personnel in the preparation of piping and equipment layouts, plot plans, installation details, equipment, valve schedules, line lists, material MTOs and all other associated design deliverables related to piping, to stress analysis, to static and rotating equipment. - Interpret and apply industry standards and codes affecting design work and project deliverables. - Carry out full range of structural analyses and investigations, including evaluation, selection of technical options and prepare supporting reports. - Undertake Vendor review and pre-qualification, bid evaluations including commercial and technical clarifications, participation of vendor meetings and provide assistance in contracting strategy and mechanical package deliverables and incorporation of Vendor Documentation Mechanical details within the design dossier per project. - Control of discipline work tasks and provide overall technical guidance and direction to Engineers to produce innovative, high-level engineering work at the appropriate level of detail. - Ensure discipline work performed is carried out in accordance with the Penspen Group ISO 9001 Accreted Quality System, including ISO 14001 Environmental Procedures and ISO 18001 Health and Safety Procedures.

Generic - Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with corporate, project and client procedures, as well as QHSE system requirements. - Provide technical guidance and direction to Mechanical Engineers on various tasks allocated to them by Lead Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager. - Maintain awareness of project CTRs and activity hours. Highlight any potential project time overrun to the Project Manager. Work to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the design process. - Participate in Project reviews, HAZOPs and Design Reviews. - Liaise with clients on technical and project level, as required, to ensure their needs are being met. - May provide technical expertise to proposals, providing support on the Marketing Business Development tasks, as appropriate for the Stream’s further Business winning. - Mentor and develop the less experienced Mechanical Engineers, making recommendations concerning their selection and training, if required. - Undertake site visits as required to facilitate design work and integration of additions, to gather information and to resolve Project related problems.

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):** - Wide ranging experience in the oil and gas industry, with practical exposure to the EPC sector of the oil and gas sector, and extensive experience in working with the relevant codes and standards, (ASTM, API, NACE, IP, BS, etc.) - Excellent technical background in the design of pipeline facilities, oil storage facilities, gas process plants and petroleum refineries. - Experience in feasibility, concept selection, FEED and detailed design, stress analysis. - Experience in design that minimizes environmental impact. - Ability to effectively deliver in a team working under pressure to deadlines and be able to prioritize own and Mechanical Engineers workload, if required. - Discretion and confidentiality at all times. - Computer literate with all MS Packages, particularly Word and Excel proficient. - Sound Communication & Interpersonal skills; good customers service skills.

Qualifications: - Educated to an engineering degree in a relevant discipline and comprehensive post qualification experience, including time spent on construction sites. - Chartered member of IMechE or other equivalent institution.
