You Are**
The Manager, Database Administration leads the Database Administration team for the Product Hosting organization. The team supports our production and nonproduction databases platforms, which currently span Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Cosmos technologies. The Manager works with our Technical and Business teams to ensure we are supporting customer service objectives while establishing and maintaining critical operational controls. **
The Opportunity**
- Manages installations, configurations, and upgrade of the database server platforms.
- Manages and prioritizes database change requests, patches, and monitoring tools.
- Monitors system performance and evaluates areas to improve efficiency.
- Specifies proper types of files organization, indexing methods, and security procedures.
- Guide team on the best practices of setting up the monitoring, alerts, disk management of Oracle and SQL server databases.
- Addresses a variety of database issues including integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning, and new applications; diagnose and resolve complex problems in a production Oracle environment.
- Participates in architectural reviews and provide guidance on database best practices.
- Oversight on database security and database refreshes.
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to support informed decisions regarding resource allocation management; maintain up-to-date documentation of all database environments.
- Manages a team of 8-10 direct reports, providing coaching and guidance to help our team members grow professionally.
- Works with technical staff to analyze and understand problems with complex software systems and resolves them.
- Participates in development of departmental budget and ensures we are aligned for business needs.
- Responsible for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of department services for our customers.
- Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counselling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

What You Need**
- Bachelor of Art or Science degree required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Continuous learning, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required.
- Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.
- Seven years’ experience in a Database Administration management role with demonstrated technical experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Three years supervisory or leadership experience in Oracle/SQLDBA required.
- Deep knowledge of Oracle, MS SQL, and NOSQL databases (Cosmos, Mongo), SQL managed instances, or Azure SQL.
- Experience with backup and recovery procedures using RMAN; SQL Always On settings, or other HA and DR strategies in a production capacity.
- Experience with Qlik Replicate (or similar tool – i.e., Data Mirror) required.
- Knowledge of ASM, RAC, RMAN, OEM and other related Oracle technologies.
- Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Knowledge of replication technologies for real time data synchronization across multiple databases.
- In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
- Experience with ODI is preferable (other major ETL tool experience acceptable.)
- Must demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.
- Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.
- Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.
- Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.
- Ability to establish workflows, manages multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.
- Experience working with global teams to provide 24x7 support for our customers.
- Proven skills communicating to multiple levels of an organization, including internal, customer, and vendor, able to communicate clearly with peers as well as management.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. As required by local law, UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York or Washington as set forth below. **
Role Location: Remote**
Compensation Range: $100,000-$145,000
