Job description

Requirements:

  • BSCS or higher
  • Strong background in networking and related protocols and applications
    • TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, NTP, HTTP, HTTPS
    • ssh, rsync, wget, curl, apache
  • Strong background in electronics and electrical devices
    • Knows Ohm’s Law
    • Power consumption (Solar, Low power operations, their tradeoffs)
    • Familiarity with I2C, USB, and Serial devices
    • Familiarity with web cameras, simple graphic manipulations and motion detection
    • Familiarity with radar devices a plus
    • Extra credit for understand the effects of the leading edge of thunderstorms
    • Knows how to make software and hardware work together cooperatively
  • Dedicated to Linux and/or Open Source
    • Solves problems on their own (goes to StackOverflow instead of the vendor)
    • Displays the main traits of a good developer: laziness, impatience, and hubris
  • Knowledgeable of basic concepts of Object Oriented Design
    • Classes, methods, constructors.
  • Familiarity with the GCC
  • Familiarity with databases: MariaDB, MySQL
  • Languages: C++, JavaScript, bash, perl, (python is not an adequate substitute for our systems)
