Job description

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Design new products and/or revise current products to meet market and customer demands
  • Develop CAD models, drawings, Bills of Material and other forms of documentation to support production of orders.
  • Provide time and cost estimates for requests for quote (RFQ)
  • Ensure all products meet industry and regulatory requirements including but not limited to DOT, FMVSS, ANSI standards
  • Verify fit, form and function and manufacturability utilizing CAD models, FEA, mock-ups/prototypes.
  • Conduct necessary tests as required to ensure products meet industry and customer requirements. Document test procedures and results.
  • Perform FEA as necessary to ensure structural/durability/compliance requirements.
  • Monitor production of initial/pilot units to identify changes required for successful completion and building of future orders. Process all change orders to ensure documentation is accurate. Provide instructions to update CPQ as necessary.
  • Assist in maximizing efficiency techniques of current designs and research ways to improve existing systems.
  • Develop alternative sources when components are not available or cost/quality/performance no longer meets IMT, industry, customer, or regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical guidance or training to others assigned to work on a common project.
  • Provide technical support to Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Marketing, Customer Support and Service.
  • Other special duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • A minimum of 3 years related work experience required.
  • Must be able to prioritize duties and complete tasks according to set guidelines.
  • Requires high level attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
  • Compliance with industry, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Able to work independently as well as in with members of a team.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3D modeling, 2D computer drafting, finite element analysis using computer software, FEA analysis and knowledge of manufacturing processes desired.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with training or experience in electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in CAD administration duties
