Job description

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and defining stakeholders/business owners/clients requirements in order to provide comprehensive consultation and long-term recommendation to the management on both the software applications development and business aspects. Regularly interacting with the Business users and Scrum Engineering teams, they will ensure the maximum utilization of the applications capability and work continuously on bridging the gap between application limitation and user expectation.

This role will contribute to operations continuous improvement by understanding the needs of the business, analyzing areas of improvement and coherently communicating them, while supporting development of effective solutions; coupled with supporting and delivering key continuous improvement as needed across people, process, and policy in collaboration with other enabling teams.

Responsibilities

  • The Business Analyst is expected to significantly impact and drive technical analysis of our business processes and work very closely with the Product teams, Scrum Engineering teams, and Stakeholders.
  • Investigate, record, analyze and confirm system requirements and business processes.
  • Identify overlapping requirements/processes across the existing and upcoming product range.
  • Negotiate acceptance criteria with the stakeholders and business units.
  • Produce high quality and concise requirements and design documents which accurately reflect the business requirements and can be clearly understood by internal or external Solution Developers.
  • Provide well-reasoned quality user-centered, user-interface design advice to the software developers consistent with the architecture and security principles and standards.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing, verifying bugs/issues with the stakeholders and business units.
  • Manage requests, analyze changes, and follow the process of changing requests whilst being reactive and amenable to the ever-changing landscape.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Work with business users to elicit and define user requirements through the use of the most appropriate method(s), translating them into functional requirements and contributing to management expectations;
  • Analyse requirements that are uniquely traceable, verifiable, and prioritised in a manner that is acceptable to both business and technology stakeholders;
  • Use data and process modelling tools (including but not limited to process mapping, business, object, and dataflow modelling) to analyse and represent information in an effective form, in order to translate business requirements into meaningful statements of work;
  • Assess existing processes to identify redesign or enhancement opportunities to deliver improved productivity or efficiency to the business;
  • Produce conceptual designs and contribute to the development of business cases, Return on Investment and Net Present Value calculations;
  • Support the delivery of features including on-going JIRA maintenance of features and stories/tasks;
  • Communicate iteration priorities, feature sets, roadmaps, and customer feedback to a variety of different stakeholders and executives;
  • Apply strong Business Analysis skills and methodologies to ensure that what is produced is aligned and value maximized for our clients;
  • Engage and discuss with the business on the status of a project, as well as constantly ensuring our business requirements are understood by the team;
  • Support and review the testing scenarios, test data, and defects verification throughout the delivery lifecycle;
  • Represent the project team at workshops, presentations, showcases, and other meetings as appropriate, ensuring any decisions made are communicated back to the engineering teams and scrum masters.

Qualifications

The Business Analyst should have expert level knowledge required to assist our team in technical analysis and their experience should include the following:

  • The ideal candidate will have a degree relevant to Information Technology/Computer Science/Business (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant work experience in a project driven environment;
  • Good skill and expertise in Discovery methodologies with a high-level focus on elicitation and requirements gathering & documentation, using tools such as JIRA/Confluence/Redmine/Trello;
  • Hands-on experience in influencing and collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Designers, and Architects, leading the workstream;
  • Experience with Agile methodology and working alongside Scrum Masters and Engineering Managers;
  • Advanced skills in using suitable tools for business modeling, drawing business and technical flows/diagrams, creating mockups/wireframes/prototypes;
  • Working knowledge of various aspects of technology solutions (e.g. user interfaces, APIs, databases, systems integration) and dealing with technology specialists;
  • Have basic knowledge of cloud-based technologies (AWS);
  • The ability to quickly build an understanding of the business environment, operating models, and terminology;
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with an acute focus on attention to detail;
  • Excellent English communication and facilitation skills (both verbal & written) and strong Presentation capabilities;
  • Experience in the UI/UX areas and understanding of the user-centric mindset;

It would be nice to have additional technical understanding in the following areas:

  • Previous experience analysing and defining ERP or Financial IT systems;
  • Experience in finance with real-time trading systems and market data;
  • Experience in working in a regulated financial company;
  • Has previously worked with multinational global remote teams;
