Lead Engineer (Web3)

This is a remote-friendly role but your timezones should align with USA or UK.

Our client is creating the Discord disrupter that is needed for Web3 communities to build, grow, and thrive. The app is a group chat platform where security comes first, token-gating works and there is less spam & noise. Their parent company has raised $150m.

About the role:

A tech lead, with management experience, who will be responsible for scaling the chat app to millions of active users.

What you'll do:

• Architect a secure, private, and highly-functional Web3 chat app
• Recruit, hire, scale, and manage an amazing team of engineers
• Own product development from design through deployment and into operation, shipping often to get actionable feedback from the team and users
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various members of the team including product design, UX, and business development
• Contribute critical thinking and creative brainstorming toward building a product that serves Web3 communities

What we're looking for:

• 7+ of working experience in software development, including work on a consumer facing app used by millions of people
• Proficiency in backend development (especially Python & Django)
• Good understanding and comfort with storage / caching solutions ranging from SQL databases (e.g. Postgres) to NoSQL systems (e.g. Redis)
• Experience with React and typed JavaScript (ideally TypeScript)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with empathy when delivering constructive feedback to engineers and product designers
• You're familiar with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security and usability

Nice to haves:

• Experience contributing to open source projects
• Experience building a real-time chat client
