Company Description

PETA Asia is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. We operate under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in factory farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and the entertainment industry.

PETA Asia works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Job Description
  • Develop and work with colleagues to create regional and country-specific marketing and media plans and ideas to reach audiences for various celebrity campaigns, video launches, investigations, news conferences, and news releases
  • Identify, contact, and develop professional relationships with appropriate media outlets and journalists for coverage of issues and campaigns
  • Maintain and update a media database
  • Prepare news releases and media statements and, if needed, have them translated and make follow-up calls to media outlets
  • Track and analyze the results of each media pitch and adjust efforts accordingly
  • Develop and execute strategies to help the organization’s web content reach targeted audiences
  • Help generate content for the organization’s digital assets, including website articles, online advocacy and pledges, and social media platforms
  • Create and distribute e-mail content to the organization’s members and supporters
  • Act as a spokesperson and give interviews when required
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
  • Thorough commitment to and extensive knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills and written and oral skills in English
  • Some knowledge of or experience with media relations preferred
  • Extensive experience managing social media pages with proven success in fostering engagement
  • Excellent research skills
  • A sense of urgency and an ability to take initiative and follow through
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be vegan
  • Supportive position with respect to PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate for the group’s positions on issues in a professional manner
