BACKGROUND:

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful

movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women, and Black women.

NDWA was founded in 2007 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country. Our national alliance has grown from this founding group of 13 organizations to now more than 70 affiliate organizations, and local chapters developed by NDWA. To date, the Alliance comprises more than 250,000 nannies, housekeepers, and home care workers in all 50 states.

Position Summary:

NDWA was founded in 2007 by 13 local domestic worker organizing projects. As of 2023, the alliance has grown to include 76 local affiliate organizations and chapters, and a base of thousands of individual workers who have joined NDWA directly. We are building a mass base of childcare workers, housecleaners, and home care workers, including workers who are connected to local organizations as well as others who are in places where there is no local organization for them to join. NDWA is the home for all domestic workers in the U.S. to work together toward a shared vision of dignity and respect for all domestic workers, and for an economy and a democracy that work for us all.

Since domestic workers work in isolation, behind closed doors and in private homes, much of our domestic worker outreach, worker communications and programming is conducted using digital tools.

With fewer people reachable by landline, and more people spending time online, the success of modern campaigns and organizing efforts depends on our ability to reach our audiences on mobile devices, through social media, and across other relevant online platforms.

The Senior Digital Care Campaigns Manager’s role is key to advancing domestic worker activation and engagement through direct communication with localized audiences via our digital tools and the creation of both evergreen and timely digital content.

The Manager’s role will be to enhance the effectiveness of our digital output for our statewide and federal campaigns, specifically campaigns to increase public investment in home care and child care jobs, transform home care and child care delivery systems, and deepen our relationships with child care and home care workers online to move them towards engaging with us in deeper ways.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help develop and execute National Domestic Workers Alliance ’ digital organizing strategy with the Digital Director and Campaigns team to build and engage our list.
  • Support NDWA’s state-based campaigns by developing and executing digital strategy, content strategy, and toolkits for various campaigns, projects, and pushes at one time.
  • Produce compelling, persuasive audio-visual, written content, and scripts that moves people to action on a range of care issues through email (via EveryAction), P2P (via GetThru or Mobile Commons ), SMS (via EveryAction), and social media. This will include setting up emails, donation forms, advocacy alerts, surveys, and other forms in EveryAction.
  • Deepen care workers’ sense of identity with NDWA by managing our online community. IE) Responding to all comments and DMs across our social and email channels..
  • Work with our ads manager in formulating digital ad campaigns to generate leads for organizers and move audiences to action.
  • Work with our social media graphic and video team to create engaging audio-visual assets.
  • Provide the team and our partners with regular updates and reports of what’s working, areas for improvement, and new opportunities.
  • Use data and experimentation to inform digital organizing strategy and tactics.
  • Work with our social media manager in setting up a social listening program to keep on top of social media trends and deepen understanding of target audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Vision for how digital tools can help build and engage a base of low-wage workers. Awareness of the limitations in technology access in low-wage worker communities, and creativity for navigating and overcoming these limitations.
  • Shares our commitment breaking down all systems of oppression
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with experience in creative, compelling prose that can move people to take action with meticulous attention to consistency and detail.
  • Solid understanding of digital tools and their application to organizing including, but not limited to, peer-to-peer texting, broadcast texting, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, Google Apps, EveryAction/VAN preferred, etc
