Job Description

Technical Program Manager

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves? **

Product Development** uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more!

Ford’s Model E team is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. Model e is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.

In this position...

Ford Model e is poised to lead the electric vehicle market through innovative vehicles and software services that power them. We are building a world-class software and cloud service engineering team and are excited to grow our Technical Program Management capability.

What you'll do...

In this role you will lead the delivery of FNV2/3/4 vehicle motion experiences from end to end including braking, steering, propulsion and suspension along the entire value stream: design, product teams, system engineering, software development, testing, safety, regulatory, calibration, release and quality.

Success as a Technical Program Manager in our Connected Vehicle Software division requires someone who is centered around product and engineering excellence with a bias for action.

You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; successfully partnering with a wide group of disciplines across the company.

You will own cross-team initiatives, identify best practices and bring your industry experience to bear on a company-wide scale.

You will engage with complex engineering programs, demonstrating leadership and a strong command of the tools and process required to achieve the teams’ goals.

You will lead programs in a principled way, and by example when the opportunities arise. You will have consummate communications skills, keeping up- and down-stream dependencies well aligned, and all stakeholders well-informed.

You’re as comfortable writing clear and concise content for leadership as you are leading a system design meeting.

Ideal candidates will have experienced multiple product cycles involving software and services, including up-and down-stream dependencies.

Partner with key stakeholders to define, scope, prioritize and deliver major strategic initiatives that span multiple teams and multiple organizations across Ford.

Understand the needs of stakeholders across the company and influence as appropriate to achieve alignment on the prioritized initiatives for customer experiences related to vehicle motion (e.g. selectable drive modes, off-road, all-wheel drive, etc.)

Enable and support the creation of a robust vehicle motion software platform that supports current and future customer experiences.

Lead the defining and tracking of success criteria and performance metrics, including Objectives and Key Results [OKRs].

Implement and execute roadmaps, schedules, project plans, and resourcing plans to enable Ford to meet customer commitments across all customer constituencies.

Lead team members on modern, world-class, software development practices including CICD and immaculate execution of a technical plan (including management of milestone progress, dependency tracking, issue triage, backlog management and daily scrum leveraging DevOps tools like Jira).

Author extremely clear functional specifications, soliciting input and feedback from stakeholders while achieving buy-in and commitment.

Personally own the relationships with other divisions at Ford, ensuring dependencies are met and quality of deliverables is high.

Embody the voice of the customer, guiding your team to be data-driving in its decision-making.

How you'll do it

Stakeholders will be heard inclusively and requirements will be exhaustive

Priorities will be set based upon aligned principles

Direction will be set quickly and decisively

You'll have...

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar related technical field.

5+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services

2+ years working in a technical capacity or working closely with an engineering team

Even better, you may have...

Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar related technical field.

6+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services

3+ years working in a technical capacity or working closely with an engineering team

Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines (engineering, product, design, QA, etc.) on high complexity projects throughout the entire product lifecycle

Familiarity with modern software development practices (continuous integration / continuous deployment)

Familiarity with modern software validation/verification practices (unit testing, system testing, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop)

Familiarity with modern DevOps tools (i.e. GitHub, Jira, TestRail)

Familiarity with the vehicle calibration process

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
