Job Description:

A vacancy for a research associate (technician) is open in Fan Zhang's laboratory at Louisiana State University. The primary focus of our research is to discover genetic factors involved in host-microbiome interactions, employing C. elegans as model organisms. We are looking for a candidate to join our team and assist the Principal Investigator with standard laboratory procedures, contribute to the development of research projects, and provide training for undergraduates involved in research projects.

Research Associate 1 Duties Include:
60% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents and protocols. Supervise/train/manage other lab members and students.

40% Develop research project to identify microbial genes in modulating host endocrine signaling using fluorescent reporters in C. elegans. Scientific techniques will include microbial cultures, high content microscopy, microbial and worm genetics. 

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or related field; with Significant microbiology experience.

Research Associate 2 Duties Include:

50% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents and protocols. Supervise/train/manage other lab members and students.

50% Develop research project to identify microbial genes in modulating host endocrine signaling using fluorescent reporters in C. elegans. Scientific techniques will include microbial cultures, high content microscopy, microbial and worm genetics. 

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or related field; with 2 years significant microbiology experience.

Research Associate 3 Duties Include:

60% Develop and supervise research project to identify microbial genes in modulating host endocrine signaling using fluorescent reporters in C. elegans. Scientific techniques will include microbial cultures, high content microscopy, microbial and worm genetics. 

40% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents and protocols. Supervise/train/manage other lab members and students.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or related field; with 3 years significant microbiology experience.

Preferred Qualifications;
Master's degree with Experience with microbial cultures, high throughput assays, and molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR)
